How to Save Money at Sunshine Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Forever grateful for the entire staff at Sunshine. They saved our goat. After a list of 15 numbers to call to get help with our boy they were the only ones to agree to see him. Not even the closest clinic to us ECLAP was willing to help us. Gladly we drove to Poway with our poor guy that had been overridden with bladder stones. Sunshine agreed to house our guy for three weeks until they felt comfortable enough to let him come back to the farm. Had it not been for Sunshine, I'm not sure our goat would've made it. They kept me in the loop of his care, sent pictures, called with updates, and went completely above and beyond to buying him snacks and making him feel at home. This hospital will forever be our go-to for our goats. Hands down the best experience we've had with an animal clinic! Thank you Dr. Aranda and to the entire team at Sunshine Animal Hospital. Sarge will never forget you and neither will we!

Very warm Dr. and staff. Thankfully, they were open July 4th when we needed them. Dr. Aranda will be our new go-to vet. My kitten was v sick with diarrhea and we could not wait another day for exam, testing and meds. She is getting better now, common problem when switching from shelter to a home. At least no parasites. In first pic, she is exhausted on weight scale at vet’s. The others show her recovery.

We love Dr. Aranda! We trust him wholeheartedly. He has helped us with our pets and our livestock and has great pricing and compassion for all our animals. We appreciate how thorough and honest he is in his assessments. We will continue taking all our animals to him!

Phenomenal experience with Sunshine from start to finish! The hospital lobby is lovely and the exam room was clean and well decorated which made my cat and I both feel cozy and cared for right away😊 The staff was friendly, compassionate and knowledgeable…I felt at ease knowing my pet was in great hands and would receive the best of care! To top it all off, the vet visit did NOT break the bank 🙌🏼 Awesome staff, fantastic doctor, high quality care for my cat- all for an affordable price. Doesn’t get better than that!

I took a goat there and while he was accurately diagnosed the vet gave me one dose of theanine and an antibiotic. He needed to be given theanine every 6 hours and the vet also gave me the wrong antibiotic. Two days after we saw this vet he was getting worse. I called a woman who knew about goats, and she helped me get the right treatment, but it was still too late. I will never know if a proper treatment would have helped him thanks to this vet. So far in 10 years of living in the area I have never found a competent vet. I'm not sure what is going on at the colleges, but it is certainly troubling. I will make a small claim to get my money back at least. I recommend everyone do that to help discourage unqualified vets from practicing.
