How to Save Money at Pico Rivera Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I loved this place. They treat you and your fur baby super good. They took me in the same day. I was calling other vet clinics and they squeezed me in to check my baby. Prices are reasonable and I have pet insurance so it was a big help too. I would recommend this place to anybody.

Very professional and clean hospital. Took my cat in because he had a mouth infection it was a bit pricey but hey it got my baby feeling better so it was worth it. I like that they were able to give me an appointment the next day too! Would recommend 👍🏼

The doctors are so nice and care about their patients. I stopped going here because I could never get an app time unless I book out 3 months in advance. My dog went without flea medication for 6 months because they would decline the Chewy prescription checks.

This is the worst veterinary hospital in my experience. They are not friendly towards handicap people at all. They are very poorly trained. They have you waiting on the phone more than 45 minutes to an hour and the staff gives you the runaround. Also, the veterinarians are money hungry they may be saying that they’re giving you discounts but they’re not giving you nothing all they doing is filling there pockets with your money they do not care about your pets all they care about is the money that’s coming in all they see is a dollar sign when you come in through the door so you have been warned this place is not handicap friendly at all towards people with disabilities there are many other veterinarians that are better qualified and better trained staff than this one you are better off going somewhere else. They take a vantage of your emotions in your vulnerability, and the ones that suffer are your pets. Most people would do anything for their pets like I would, and that’s where they take advantage from your emotions and love for your animal. I would give this please no stars, but it will not allow me to do that so I will give it one star you have been warned if you Have a disability don’t come here because the staff is rude, and they have no patience. All they want to do is move onto the next person to keep collecting money. If you have the money to throw away then this is your place but if you want to get better care and for a reasonable price, then go somewhere else because this is the wrong place👎👎👎👎 Horrible place

STAY AWAY.. they don’t care about you’re pet only running up you’re bill.. I learned this the hard way and lost my pet because of this scam of a hospital. Here’s what happened, my pet wasn’t eating so they did tests and couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t eating… so the vet decided to up sell me medication that would help. After a Week he ended up not being able to walk or see. Then when I went back to the vet and he said theirs nothing he can do and referred me to a specialist that charged me $6k for only additional tests! Don’t risk it. Get pet insurance … places like this don’t care about you or your pet. Btw after thousands of dollars spent. I had to Pay an additional $320 for his ashes.
