How to Save Money at North Bay Veterinary Dentistry
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I’ve had 4 dogs in my life but I’ve never had to deal with dental problems until now. I get very emotional, overly so, about my dogs, and when they need Veterinary care, it takes a toll on me. Our primary Vet somewhat reluctantly recommended full extraction, as did another dental specialist. I just could not get comfortable with pulling all of our pups teeth at such a young age. I started searching for other dental specialists and found Dr. Fulton through the AVDC. I reviewed her education and qualifications and when I spoke to her on the phone prior I got a good feeling about her. We visited her office in late July for a consultation. My wife and I were both were comforted by her, her staff, and their beautiful new office which presents a safe and calming atmosphere. We were convinced we wanted to trust her with our pup's care. The costs for a dental specialist is higher than those of our regular Vet but it gave me more peace of mind to have someone with special education and experience, plus a caring, and kindness treating our girl. It was well worth the extra money. And Dr. Fulton determined that it was not necessary to do a complete extraction, so our girl still has most of her teeth. She is her happy, healthy, self again. I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Fulton and her staff to anyone whose pet needs dental care.

We had a great experience with the team at North Bay Veterinary Dentistry. Our senior dog needed teeth extracted and from the moment that we arrived at their office to the moment that we left post surgery, we were well taken care of. More importantly, our dog, Lucy, usually has an aversion to vet hospitals and pulls away when we enter the door. At North Bay Dentistry, Lucy happily walked herself inside their door without a protest. Throughout the procedure, they texted us updates and made sure that we knew what was going on. We are so grateful for the care they gave Lucy and will be back for all our dental needs.

My dog loves visiting North Bay and gets excited when we pull into the parking lot, if that tells you anything. For myself, I cannot say enough good things about the wonderful humans at North Bay Vet Dentistry. Bridget, Ashley, and Dr Fulton were all amazing. Not only did they find a time to see my dog right away after she had an accident where she broke multiple teeth, but the care they gave her was top notch. The whole office loved on my girl - all the scritches and snuggles - and treated her the way I would have. They carefully explained all of my options for treatment, including long-term implications, and even showed me photos of similar procedures. They stopped to answer all my questions multiple times during the process. When it came to day of surgery, they were flexible with drop off times for her to accommodate my work schedule, and they sent me text updates throughout the day, including photos. Dr Fulton even took the time to walk me through photos of the final result and confirm the outcome was as expected when I came to pick up my dog. Heck, they set my dog up with a snuggly spot to sleep under Dr Fulton’s desk while waiting to go into surgery because my anxious monster kept trying to hide there. (She normally sleeps under my desk while I work.) Basically, they went above and beyond to soothe her nerves and make her feel at home. I couldn’t ask for more. It wasn’t cheap, but the pricing all makes sense for the treatment, and I know my dog is getting amazing care. I feel incredibly lucky to have found North Bay and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

We walked in with our older dog, Macy, for a consultation about an abscessed tooth. We were greeted at the door by the Vet, Dr Amy Fulton, as well as Bridget and Ashley, super staff. We felt immediately comfortable and like we were family. The physical set up is lovely and well thought out and made our anxious dog feel very comfortable. (Not to mention her anxious owners.) Macy ended up having surgery a week later and had three teeth pulled. When we dropped her off for the surgery she was invited to wait with us on a comfy couch with a blanket and toys. (Set up especially for Macy by Ashley’s daughter before she went off to Kindergarten. )Once surgery began we waited out front in comfort too. We were given a couple of updates during surgery which did a lot to make us relax. When they finished Dr Amy gave us a complete account of Macy’s issues and the procedure with photos and a thorough explanation. Our discharge instructions were clear and complete both verbally and in writing. Macy recovered very well. I can’t say enough about this practice. Professional, welcoming, well organized and compassionate. Highly recommend.

I trust no one more than Dr Fulton and her team! Dr. Fulton, Ashley and Bridget are incredibly talented, trustworthy and provide wonderful customer service. I have taken two of my pups for dental surgeries and not only was the surgery done with the highest of care but the healing has been without issue. The team is with your pet every moment of their time in surgery (not often the case, I found out at other vets) ensuring the utmost safety. It has brought me so much peace and comfort during these procedures. Their new space in Petaluma exhibits the joy, comfort and professionalism these three possess. Will always be my go to!
