How to Save Money at A Well Adjusted Pet, Inc.
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Took my senior dog there regularly for 4 years and they treated her like family - Dr Strubel was more than a physical therapist, she was a medical advocate for my dog up until the end, incalculably improving and prolonging my dog’s quality of life. We are so glad we found her!

I am so grateful for the physical therapy and care my dachshund received after his IVDD surgery. It took some time to get him in, but I’m so happy we waited. With my past dachshunds and their IVDD, I didn’t have a resource like this nearby and their recovery was slow. He was so happy to show up every week. It’s the only gym where you get treats for exercise. It’s been about six months since we completed treatment and a year since his surgery. He has regained most of the movement in his hind legs and is back to jumping into the bed for snuggles.

My dog has arthritis in both his elbows and shoulders at a young age. Dr. Illana and her staff are all very friendly, helpful people who helped my dog strengthen his body in five short weeks. She is clear, accommodating, and very thorough with her assessments. I would highly recommend her if your dog has trouble moving.

The moment you set foot as a patient in Dr. Ilana's practice, you feel as though you are being lifted up by two very capable hands. Truly, Dr. Ilana cares about her furry clients (and their human companions) more than any other vet we have seen for our 15 year-old Shiba Inu. Dr. Ilana is thorough at explaining symptoms, treatment and follow-up care to us, and has been instrumental in keeping our dog healthy and pain-free for the past several years as he enters the geriatric phase of his life. Dr. Ilana and her phenomenal staff are caring individuals who spend the time with each patient and give you the attention that you deserve. She is the living embodiment of a healthcare practitioner, and I would even suggest she should be teaching other veterinarians how to do their job. Dr. Ilana's practice focuses on the holistic well-being of your pet, so there are modalities that she is highly trained in assisting with -- for example, rather than put our dog through surgery when he tore his second rear CCL ligament, she fitted him with a custom-made brace that allows him to stay active and without putting him through surgery at 13 years old. This, in tandem with the Rex Center's amazing hydro-therapy techniques, has allowed our dog to stay active and mobile without going through the expense and recovery time from surgery, particularly for an older dog where using anesthesia is always a risk. We routinely see other pet success stories when we visit the clinic, which means she clearly knows what she is doing and has the expertise to back it up. I truly believe that Dr. Ilana is amazingly caring human being who puts your dog's health and best interests ahead of everything else, and that she doesn't suggest "extra" services or unnecessary treatments just for the sake of lining her own pockets. She will tell you in a very straightforward manner what is needed, and let you decide what options you want choose for your pet's well-being. I recommend A Well Adjusted Pet wholeheartedly and would never even dream of going elsewhere for my dog's medical services.

My super active 11 yr old labradoodle partially dislocated his ankle 8 weeks ago and was put in a very think cast for those 8 weeks. I was not happy with the care he received from the Orthopedic surgeon. However - from the minute we arrived at A Well adjusted pet - Charlie couldn't wait to go in and see what was going on in there. He was relaxed ( for him) and loved the delicious treats and the very caring and attentive care he received from Dr.Ilana and her co - workers. We are so happy to have found A Well Adjusted Pet for his recovery and getting him back up and running again. I was highly recommended to Dr. Ilana by multiple people and I can see why after only 1 visit. She truly is a "dog whisperer"! THANK YOU Madeleine
