How to Save Money at Veterinary Urgent Care - Oceanside
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I always have the absolute best care here. I've had to take both of my dogs here probably 4 times over the past 6 months, and each time the team is extremely quick, knowledgeable, and kind. They make both me and my dogs feel extremely comfortable in emergency situations. The prices are very reasonable for urgent care. I highly recommend to anyone in the area for emergency care!

We brought our kitty in a few weeks ago, and received the best care for her (friendly staff, transparent pricing with different options, and great communication with follow-up phone calls from the staff). Although we ended up having to say goodbye to our kitty, the staff here was so kind throughout the whole process. They even went above and beyond, and sent us a beautiful sympathy card afterwards that all the staff signed. It was such a sweet gesture, and really helped us know that she was loved by everyone until the end.

We had an emergency as one of our dogs had a massive seizure. On a weekend evening we ran to this facility desperate for help. The Dr and staff on that night were top notch in service and care for our old faithful dachshund. We had no choice in the outcome but found ourselves in the best vet care we have ever experienced. Thank you ladies for your impeccable care for our Bailey and for helping us as well in that difficult time. 10 star level service.

I can't say enough good things about Veterinary Urgent Care in Oceanside! We had to bring our 3-year-old dog, Eddie, in on a Saturday to have his eye pressure checked as advised by his eye specialist. Not only were we able to secure a same-day appointment (on a weekend!), but the care and service we received was exceptional. Katherine, Kacey and Dr. Buck were all so caring and immediately put us at ease during what could have been a stressful time. What truly stood out was their thoroughness in the intake and examination process. It was clear that they genuinely care about the pets they treat. They provided us with a clear and comprehensive explanation of everything that was happening and took the time to answer all of our questions and address any concerns, making sure we felt informed and comfortable with the course of action. I can confidently say that Veterinary Urgent Care in Oceanside goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care for the animals they treat. We're incredibly grateful for their expertise, kindness, and prompt service, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of urgent veterinary care. Five stars all the way!

We’ve had to take our kitty here twice in the span of a few months for two separate issues. (They got his back paws fixed up just in time for his birthday - he wasn’t super happy about the foot wraps but oh well!)The staff has been incredibly friendly, the vets really listened to us. Our cat is very sweet but can get a little shy and anxious at the vet’s office. The urgent care team were extremely patient and gentle with him, and they did their best to minimize any anxiety he felt. They also called to check up on our cat the day after his visits. They were extremely transparent with pricing, and they let us chose options that gave our cat the treatment he needed but also best fit our budget. If we ever have a relatively urgent problem with any of our pets, we’re definitely bringing them here!! P.s. they also offer a military discount!
