How to Save Money at Parktown Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I am really happy that my dog, Everest, and I found Parktown Veterinary Clinic. Everest is 3.5 years old and we have had several negative experiences at other veterinarians in the area. I brought my dog here for his allergies and they were able to see him within a couple days of my initial phone call. The vet explained everything, took time to talk to me about my concerns and I never felt rushed. The vet techs and office staff were so friendly. I feel as if the price for all the services we received were cheaper than other vets we have been to in the past. I have had to email them a couple times about concerns and prescription refills and they have responded quickly and never pushed away my concern. I look forward to my dog and I's continued relationship with Parktown Vet. I highly recommend bringing your pet here. Thank you to all the staff for being there for Everest and I.

On our second dog that we've brought here regularly. Always friendly and very reasonable. They were so compassionate when it was time to let our Westie go. They've been so patient and understanding with our Rottweiler who is VERY scared of strangers and no doubt could be a danger to someone in the wrong situation. On our most recent visit, although he was still very uncomfortable, he did allow the vet to give an exam, and we didn't even have to give him any downers.

Parktown Veterinay Clinic is my go-to clinic for my two cats' regular annual exam. Staffs have been very friendly and helpful. They care about my furry buddies, and have taken good care of them. Sometimes the waiting time is long, but definitely worth it.

My wife took my beloved pet to Parktown Veterinarian Clinic when he was limping, hoping to find out what was wrong and get him the care he needed. However, we were disappointed with the level of care and service we received. The clinic was more focused on making money than on providing quality care to our furry friend. Prior to the appointment when she asked for a quote for the exam and x-ray, they gave her a price that was much lower than other clinics. However, they failed to mention that this price was only for one view, and that more views might be necessary. They also didn't mention that sending the x-ray for specialist review would cost extra. When the first clinic couldn't find the problem, we took our pet to another clinic where he was diagnosed with a lesion that had become infected. He needed surgery to remove the infection and pus. This could have been prevented if the first clinic had been more diligent and thorough in their examination. To add insult to injury, when we requested a refund, the first clinic declined. I felt that their payment was not fair, especially given the level of care and service we received. Overall, I was deeply disappointed with this clinic's lack of care and concern for my pet, and I would not recommend them to anyone looking for quality veterinary care.

After being up since 5am with my dog Blue shaking his head every minute, crying, and scratching his ears till they bled, I called all the vets around my new home in Fremont HOPING someone would take my boy in.. no where could accommodate so I decided to try elsewhere and drive further. I was recommended ParkTown Vet from my old boss And decided to give them a call. Not only did they take him in on a short notice, and as a new patient… they went over pricing before hand and did not try to add any extra charges that were unnecessary (which is common to have a huge bill in the end from most vets these days) From the front staff to the doctor and the techs everyone was so nice!!!! I personally worked at a vet clinic for 3 years, and their prices were fair and not too pricey at all… seeing how I was an emergency appointment I honestly expected to take a huge hit. The doctor listened, was not pushy, and did not make me feel like they were out for my money. Everyone knows how that feels. Even tho Blue had to be sedated for his ear cleaning (I requested since he’s difficult) I felt he was in good caring hands. So thank you ParkTown Veterinary for such a smooth and fast appointment. Blues ears thank you!!!!!
