How to Save Money at TrueCare for pets
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Last year my cat was throwing up peeing on himself and couldn’t move. I was so scared and they were the only hospital open on a holiday. They saw how severe his condition was and rushed him ASAP. He had some sort of disease that he only has a 20% chance of making it. We went through with it. I am so happy to say a year later he is alive and well. The vet bill was expensive bc it was an emergency visit. However i am so grateful that this little guy is alive and well. Thank you to all the staff and Doctors that helped us.

Honestly I do not get the bad reviews? I brought my dog yesterday on an emergency. They took him right away, the doctor called me within 30 minutes with the treatment plan, very informative and comprehensive. After diagnosing tests were performed the clear plan for care was presented to me. With several options considering my budget. Front desk staff was very sweet and caring. So far the experience was great! Thank you very much for excellent care. P.s Yes, it is expensive, but it’s ER. Has anyone had an affordable visit to ER ever?

Our kitten unfortunately had an accident and hurt her back leg. I read all the bad reviews on here and now I want to give my full authentic review having now taken our kitten here. First and foremost, everyone was incredibly friendly. Since our kitten was in a lot of pain, they took her back right away and all of the staff was very compassionate. We weren’t allowed to go back with our kitten, but were able to communicate with the veterinarian through the phone. So make sure your phone is charged if you have to come here with your pet. The veterinarian was super kind, compassionate, and helpful giving the best care and advice. Our kitten had to get pain injections, an x-ray, and pain medication to take home. Luckily our kitten was not fractured or none suspected and it was just soft tissue inflammation. We arrived at 10:30 pm at night and didn’t leave until around 2am and it was very busy. With all of that being said, our bill was close to $1,000 which is why I’m giving them 4 stars. They did everything right, offering the best care but I find this price to be outrageous. If you need to come here for emergent situations for your pet and cost isn’t an issue, then definitely come here. If you know of a more cost-efficient place, then go there instead. Overall good experience here in a scary situation for our kitten.

I understand that this field is extremely demanding and I have nothing but respect for those who pursue such professions with passion. I also acknowledge that people who work in this field are also sometimes receptive to misdirected anger from grief, which is not to blame the workers or the customer who is experiencing a loss. They are both valid and I hope with my honest feedback, there will be some changes so that future families who I hope won’t have to go through euthanasia will have a less abase experience. I would also not like to take anything away from the choice my family and I made. Our doctor was very helpful and honest and never crossed a line. He was professional, and I am glad Oscar was under his care to help him get to his next destination without any suffering. We believe he passed peacefully and had a serene expression after we had released him. Our precious Oscar has lived for 12 years and 6 months to the date filled with smiles, belly rubs, his favorite snacks, and days at the park, and passed on July 7th of 2023 with love. Some staff were genuine and compassionate, however, there was one person who was checking my pet in who completely cut me off trying to explain my pet’s medical history. I am trying to give the benefit of the doubt that she might have done that to try and get into critical care asap, but I believe there was a way for them to go around it. In my state of panic at the time, it felt snide to say the very least. There were two people who I would like to thank; the person at the front desk around 10-11 pm with glasses and long black hair and the assistant who helped us communicate our decision. The person at the front desk was sincere and compassionate in their manner every time, which was very much appreciated. The assistant whom I had forgotten her name (my apologies) gave me a few words of condolences after I had called this morning to arrange a private pick up for my baby which was not necessary at all but was very kind of her. She had taken the time to tell me that “It was very clear you and your family loved him and to get some rest”. I truly appreciated those caring words. The most important aspect of my dissatisfaction would be the room for saying our last goodbyes. We had to hear conversations in the lobby from the left (which was not what was bothering us, we understand this is an emergency clinic.) and staff from the right laughing and making small talk which I felt took something away from saying goodbye and having my last precious moments with my baby. I do not have an issue at all with hearing conversations from the lobby, however, the giddy and playful tone of the doctors and assistants from the backroom felt inappropriate and inconsiderate of my family and my situation. Just one laugh maybe would have been something I can live with without leaving this review but it was constant laughs, and super loud conversations we can hear as if they are right next to us. It seemed to be constant for the whole hour to hour and a half that we spent saying goodbye. We were told to knock on the door or let the front desk know when we were ready and I did not want to go out to the lobby so I tried knocking to notify that we were ready 2-3 times and was probably not heard because of the conversations. I tried to not let my emotions get the best of me and just focused on spending the last moments but it is upsetting to think of it now. Of course, an experience like this doesn’t qualify us to have any special treatment but I believe the things I am upset over could have been avoided. Lastly, I would still like to thank the doctor and the two other employees that had tried to be as objective as possible so we can process the situation as a family. And to those who are reading this review to find a clinic for your babies, I am so sorry and hope for their recovery. My heart goes out to all the fur parents in need of medical attention for their pets. I will have all of your babies in my thoughts and prayers.

I took my much loved dog here because he was having trouble breathing. While I am very grateful that my dog got good care, I have to say this is the worst veterinary experience I have ever had. I took my dog there early in the morning and I didn’t even think about payment. They made me give us a very large deposit And sent me a treatment plan that was not very clear. These folks held with me all day to pay the rest of the bill and told me if I didn’t pay by six they would stop treating my dog. While I got agitated, I was no way abusive. That didn’t stop the hospital manager Lindsay from giving me a lecture via text. Don’t ever take your pet here.
