How to Save Money at Critter Creek Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our dog has been going for a year now and so far the staff has been amazing! The doctors have been great too. We have to find another vet for our rabbit though. We’re very happy at critter creek.

I have been going here for my two cats for about three years. I usually love the service and how much they really care about the animals. They are always so friendly and so nice. My one complaint is that for the past year or so I have been having a terrible time trying to get in contact with anyone to make an appointment. I have since had to go to other veterinarians and probably won’t be going back. Wish they had better and more reliable communication. Other than that they are truly great people and all seem to be really caring individuals.

I have taken my Beagle here (to see both Dr. Plucker and Dr. Morrow) for over 7 years now. Both doctors are so very wonderful, so smart, and caring! They know what they are doing, each have a lot of their own individual great knowledge and expertise! And always give great care plans and advise! Including regular office visits, surgery, etc! And every single one of the girls that work there are very knowledgeable, caring, efficient and kind. As are the two young men (Elliot) and the other young man (not sure on his name.) (He is more new to the office.) Elliot has always been wonderful with my dog, as has November and Shelby, and all the staff! (All the staff are great but these are the names I remember offhand.) I appreciate all of them, (and how personable and efficient they are!) Waiting time is usually short, and the place is always immaculately clean. I'm thankful for the care they have given my baby over the years. I also take advantage of their day boarding and grooming, as they do a great job with that as well! Critter Creek is a great asset to our community and I'm glad they are here!

Used to take my pups to Willow Rock but when our beloved vet retired, I started searching for a new vet. Went to several vets in Rocklin who tried to up sell me on extra treatments and tried telling me both my pups needed expensive dental services- which I knew couldn’t be true only a year after our long time vet retired. My mom found Critter Creek for her pups and referred me. I was instantly impressed and relieved. Their fees are less than vets in area, and they don’t lie to you! Both dogs got in for their visit and as expected- neither needed the expensive dental treatment two vets in Rocklin had pushed so hard. So happy we finally found a new vet!! 4 paws up- and 5 stars from my pups, Grace and Bruno and myself of course! 😊

This vet clinic used to be great. And the doctors still are great. But the office staff is HORRIBLE and has been for the last couple of years. You cannot hardly get ahold of them and when you do they are rude. They don't respond to emails and don't have a voicemail set up. We will be switching clinics. I have given them far to many 2nd chances. Which really saddens me because I have been going to critter creek for 20+ years.
