How to Save Money at Golden Valley Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I went to this by pure luck! My english bulldog went into labor over the weekend and her regular vet wasn't available. This place was suggested by them and will probably never go back to her other vet. They were able to get her in on a Saturday without an appointment. I was scheduled to have a planned c section for her that was quoted to be $1500.00 by her regular vet, this place quoted $1200.00 ON A WEEKEND!!! I rushed over and checked her in. During her full examination the vet caught she had developed a internal cherry eye. They called me to see if i would like the vet to remove the growth while she was already sedated. I was advised of complications that could happen if i left it untreated. The price would also be less if i did it that day instead of returning to have it done. I decided to do the surgery. My dog had c section and was being fixed, with the cherry eye surgery it was still a bargain. My dog was sent home with all she needed to recover. It looks very clean. The male staff that helped us was very nice.

The facility is very nice, the staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable, I was pleasantly surprised up selling is not their main focus. They took implicable care of our Fur baby. We very grateful and happy we found a safe place for our baby's care.

The best I've experienced ever. I will never choose a different vet again. Highly recommend. The sweetest MD(Dr.Chahal) and staff truly treated me as if they already knew us. I'm beyond thankful they fit me after expressing my concerns, considering also it was a Saturday! I'm so grateful 🙏 Sarah and Gio

We made an emergency appointment for a kitten. They said 5pm. We got there and no one was at the desk for a solid 10 minutes, I said I was there for the emergency appointment. They gave me a form to fill out which I did, but instead of entering it into the computer it sat on the counter while she left again. The kitten’s symptoms were worsening as we waited. Someone came out to give something to another I stopped them and said my kitten is dying she needs to be seen now (15min. If not more AFTER the appointment time). She tried to get me to fill Out the same paperwork: I stated it is complete and was left on the counter. The woman takes the kitten to the back. She comes back out minutes later, states they are too busy to assist and this kitten need immediate medical care her temperature was critical. She proceeded to give me a list of places all which are at least 30 minutes away without Friday night traffic. No offer to Give the kitten fluids, not even a you know it would be best to put her to rest given what was going on. But no nothing. A critical kitten was made to go elsewhere became they could Not accommodate the emergency appointment they made. Had they said NO they could not make an appointment they were too busy I could have gone elsewhere. JULIET DIED ON THE WAY TO THE ER CLINIC. NEVER would I refer anyone to this place. EVER. She was just a baby and they didn’t even give her a chance.

Fake email and fake cat name because I don't want them calling me anymore, which I know they will do about leaving bad reviews. I took my cat, Tom, here. I made an emergency appointment and everything. He was really sick – I genuinely think he caught COVID, because my partner got it and, shortly thereafter, my cat got sick and progressively became less able to breathe over the course of a few days. When the girl up front saw him, she got wide-eyed and went back to get the vet tech, Lisa, while I filled out the paperwork. There was hardly anyone else in the waiting room – which, by the way, you have to pay to sit in, and don't even get me started on the pricing for the visit itself – and yet it took forever for Tom to get taken back there and seen. When they came back out, it was with my cat after only about ten minutes and with the vet tech saying that there was no need for concern, he didn't have COVID, he didn't actually need to be seen, it was just a cold and he would be fine. Tom was SHAKING, his breathing was way too shallow, and he couldn't open his eyes. And the girl who'd taken him back there couldn't even look at me. When the vet tech left, the girl quietly gave me a list of other emergency clinics, which were all super far away, but I didn't have a choice. So I had to rush Tom back to my car and drive the thirty minutes to the closest one. Tom died in the waiting room of the emergency clinic because Lisa wouldn't take him. I love Tom more than I love some family members. He's the one who got me to go to the doctor a few years ago where I found out that I had lung cancer, because he wouldn't get off my chest and kept sniffing at it and pawing at it and whining as if there was something wrong. He literally saved my life. I would do anything for that cat. And he's gone because of that woman's stupidity. Also, tangential, I don't know what the proper practices of body disposal are, but I HAVE worked in a butcher shop. I know what rotting meat smells like. And I could smell that from their dumpster. Lisa, I hope you wind up in a similar place.
