How to Save Money at Greater Good Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Tonight was a tough night as my 13 year old dog took his last breath right before we arrived. I rushed in with every hope that he had a bit more fight in him. The Team (both the Receptionist and Clinical) immediately jumped to action and brought my dog back without hesitation. As a healthcare professional myself, you could tell they had every intent to do what they could. They were a cohesive team who truly took this emergency as important as it was to my family and I. The Vet onsite came out and delivered the news that we had been dreading but the sympathy was immediately felt. They then allowed for me to say my goodbyes to my Snoopy and gave me all the time I needed to thank him for being the best friend a guy could have. When I walked out of the exam room, the receptionist had everything set up with information regarding cremation. We never hope to visit an emergency hospital and leave without your furry companion but coming to this hospital, I felt accepted to blubber like a baby. I felt accepted to just be vulnerable as I said the hardest goodbye that I’ve had to give. To the Team, thank you for all you did for Snoopy and for allowing me to say my goodbyes. It’s been a rough road for him with multiple surgeries. He fought hard and he was tired and you allowed me to bring him in even though I knew he was gone and you let me mourn. I truly appreciate each of you and a “thank you” will never be enough. With all of my heart, I appreciate you all. Best, Francisco & Snoopy Rest In Peace Snoopy.

This is your sign to take your animal here if you having a vet emergency ! My dog was throwing up middle of the night and he needed to be seen by a vet asap . Thankfully this one was open at 3am and when I took him in they saw him immediately ! They kept him over night to monitor him to see if he will pass what it showed from the first X-ray. Although, when they did another x-ray Dr.Solacito called me to let me know it doesn’t look well and he needed surgery asap or it’s gonna get worse if left untreated. I agreed to him having surgery because I just wanted him to get better and not be in pain. His intestine basically twisted. Dr. Saelor performed his surgery and I knew he was in great care because how they thoroughly explained everything to me and made sure I understood what was going on. I can’t thank them enough for saving my baby courage. I am very grateful for their help making sure he was getting the care he needed. If your pet needs care asap I recommend them 100%! They keep you updated on your animal and let you know how they are doing. I really love that because it’s very scary leaving your animal and you just want to know they are well taken care of . Plus they are not one of those vets who are greedy for money. They make sure to find the root of the problem and not guess what it can be. They are truly there to help your animal. Thank you everyone who was there taking care of my Courage and reassuring me he will be okay.

I took my dog there late a few nights ago and she had to stay there for 2 days due to her condition. The staff and veterinarians were amazing!! They took great care of my dog and give me constant updates about her and even let me come in to see her during her treatment and said I can take as much time as I needed to be with her. They truly care about their patients and the owners. They even gave me a call a few days after I brought my dog home to check up on her. It is a wonderful facility, clean, and friendly staff. I truly couldn’t thank them enough because without their help my dog wouldn’t be here.

My girlfriend and I took our puppy Venus around 9pm because she had gotten into some mice poison, and everything about this place made us feel comfortable and we knew that Venus would be safe. The doctors genuinely cared for her, and took the time to explain each little thing to us. It was a clean and calm environment, which definitely helped our anxiety. They checked her every hour of the night and sent us an updated log after we picked her up in the morning, even took pictures of her. Definitely my favorite vet clinic in the AV, and we've been to a couple. Thank you Greater Good, we are so appreciative!

Our 11 week old Pomeranian took some medication he found on the floor by accident and the Dr’s and Veterinarian technicians saved his life. He is a comfort puppy for my 9 y/0 granddaughter who just lost her father. They kept him overnight and gave him IV’s and monitored him. Very compassionate and caring and skilled. I feel extremely fortunate that we have this skilled emergency veterinary office in our Antelope Valley!
