How to Save Money at VCA PetPoint Medical Center and Resort
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

PetPoint has been incredible and I can say with great confidence that they are the best vet clinic I have ever been to. The staff is friendly, helpful, and incredibly warm to all of the pets we've brought in and had even worked with us to figure out payments when we couldn't afford to get emergency surgery for pup. These people truly care and you won't regret bringing your pets here.

We have been with PetPoint since we have been in Orange County. I can say with utmost confidence and reverence that they have been consistently reliable and consistently helped my partner and I navigate the many hurdles of adopting a husky puppy. He was attacked by another dog requiring emergency surgery at four months old, then he ate an entire Costco bag of chips containing a high amount of onion and garlic requiring his stomach pumped, and most recently he got fleas while on vacation. (Shout out to Kristen and her incredible patience as she tried every possible way to get us a flea medication prescription while traveling down the coast so we could keep them out of the house). PetPoint, each time, has shown an incredibly calm, stable, and informative demeanor and done everything within their power to make sure Blue came out of each experience for the better. They are also fully transparent about each procedure and coinciding pricing as well as professional recommendations for the situation. I cannot give more accolades to their reliable and informative services and only hope when I do have actual children, I can find human doctors that will prove to be as amazing as PetPoint has been.

I took our dog for stomach acid issue. The doctor (Andrew) and the nurse were amazing. They were caring, thorough, and transparent about the care needs. They told us about the care options and the associated costs at the consultation and we went with their recommendation. When we came out to the front lobby to pay for our medical bill, the front lobby staff began to engage us bit standoffish. One of them inquired about the pet foods we were given and decided to do a price adjustment on her own and explained to us they need to add more since we received two extra can foods. Didn't feel too good about them policing the pet bill and $12 extra. When the final bill came out, the bill went up by $30 so I asked how does the price go up by 30 when they said they will raise it up by 12. Another person told us matter of factly that she will get our nurse to come out and explain to us. I waited about 15 minutes and the nurse came out apologizing to us that there were system errors and that they will do the price adjustment but it will take a while so asked if they could email the adjustment so I agreed and left. It wasn't the money that bothered me so much. It's the front lobby staff's attitude that brought out unpleasant ways of engagement. Not one time they said they were sorry, except the nurse who were so apologetic. They(front lobby staff) probably thought it wasn't their mistake so no need to apologize. Well, you too are members of a team. If you can ensure the proper charges are applied, you can also apologize when the system made an error. By the way, they just refunded us the difference because updating system takes long... We have been with them for almost 4 years even after our move. Now, we will be looking for another place near by. We would have stayed even if the cost varies...patients can't know the true cost anyway. It's the reception folks that I just don't care to deal with, again.

I just took my senior yorkipoo here for a skin infection and I am so impressed with this place. I wish I knew about it yrs ago. I was able to get an appointment in a timely manner and there was barely any wait in the office. They're organized and clean. All the staff is super nice. I like that you go in like a Dr appt and don't drop them off in a kennel setting. My dog is a rescue and I can't do that to her. The Dr said she'd follow up in a week to see how she is doing after her medicine. No Dr human or dog has ever called and followed up. That is such good bedside manner I haven't seen since I was a kid. I wish I could find a human Dr so nice. My dog has never had anything wrong like this in all my years owning her so I was stressed out it could be worse , and they eased my worries. They thoroughly checked her. And they are affordable compared to other places I've gone. My dog absolutely loves her new vet. Thank you so much for the awesome care for my fur baby and understanding my anxieties and being sympathetic. We are definitely doing the rest of her care here. I can't speak highly enough of this place and Dr Wentworth. Thank you.

My go to place for all my Dogs needs. They did some dental work for my pup and he recovered fast with minimal pain. They also have grooming services that are excellent. All the Docs have been pleasant and knowledgeable. They did get bought out by VCA but their services and efficiency is still just as good as before. All their prices are competitive for their services as well.
