How to Save Money at Washington Dog and Cat Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google

I keep getting texts and email reminders about my dog’s due vacation. I made an appointment to go since they kept insisting just to go and find out that they have been closed for weeks! To this day I still get the email reminders. I already found a new vet. They should’ve sent emails to all their clients letting them know about the clinic closing. This is definitely and inconvenience to many

This is the first time I have ever felt moved to leave a bad review for any establishment. I learned my lesson the hard way. I took my dog in for a certain issue, they told me they recommended a test that was NOT CHEAP in order to determine what might be wrong and how to best treat her. I left that day paying about $600 and I didn't receive a detailed diagnosis. But the worst of it all happened just about a few weeks after when I scheduled a Spay for my dog. They initially quoted me for about $900. That day after I dropped her off I received a call mid-day where they told me they had already SEDATED HER but couldn't continue with the surgery because she had what looked like an infection on her belly and near her vulva. If they know that something like this can stop a surgery from happening, WHY NOT CHECK BEFORE PUTTING SOMEONE'S PET ON ANESTHESIA AND STILL CHARGING THEM FOR IT. Let's not forget the fact that they make it clear on paperwork that in order to perform lifesaving procedures such as CPR during a procedure THEY CHARGE. I paid over $300 for anesthesia according to my bill. They didn't want to refund me and instead gave me a new total for the new scheduled surgery date of about $700 claiming they were giving me a "discount". What a slap to the face after being a customer for so many years. And now they won't answer? I rescheduled my spay for Jan 3rd, thankfully cancelled and shortly realized this place is "temporarily closed" the unprofessionalism is so obvious to me now. Why can't you message your clients? Let them know you are CLOSED! Own up to what you do. I DEMAND a refund for certain charges that I feel were truly unfair and unnecessary. I am STILL WAITING to hear from you guys after messaging over a month ago.

I went about a year ago and to this day I can’t believe this vet was so incompetent that they could not at all treat a cat for overgrown nails. A professional is supposed to be able to get things done. and in this instance they failed. They had the audacity to charge me something like 90 dollars just because the vet “looked at” my cat and not do anything. This place sucks.

Been going here for about 10 years. As of late I cannot reach anyone to schedule an appointment for my dog. I have left 3 messages in 2 days and no call back. I have been receiving emails as reminders that my dog is due for care so I’m concerned. Please take the time to respond to your messages your services are not cheap but our pets are our precious babies.

Took my baby angel to this place because I'd been going there for years. I was worried she might have an issue with her teeth. They agreed but told me she was healthy otherwise. They gave me the estimate for a teeth cleaning/extraction with some dollar amounts not filled in. Being confused I asked the vet tech what that was about and his response was "every vet is different so we don't know yet" which left me more confused. When I pressed him for clarification he literally said to me "it's not rocket science bro" which left me flabbergasted. I went out to the front to complain about the treatment and he claimed his response was because I was "getting smart with him"... Because I was confused? I'm a customer and worried about my pet's well being. I let it go and waited for them to reach out again to schedule a followup, which they never did. Which is good because I took her to get a second opinion and it turned out her illness had nothing to do with her teeth. The new vet ran tests, showed me the results, explained everything in detail, and made sure I was involved in my little girl's care. Dealing with these jokers was a waste of time and money
