How to Save Money at Franklin Ashley DVM
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Have been here twice over the years. Both times have waited in the exam room for over 4 hours. Be prepared to spend all day or all night here. Not sure why it takes them longer than any other vet clinic!

The staff all seemed really nice! The prices are outrageous due to the economy we're currently in, I feel it's not realistic for many to pay these prices. They came out before anyone had explained the situation for my MIL's cat and had a form she needed to sign IF he needed to be "stabilized" which was a flat rate of $750. The cat had a UTI, (which we had figured out and caused us to bring him in) so to stabilize him he would have needed a catheter, pain medication, fluids, and monitoring. The flat rate doesn't include keeping the animal overnight or any additions that your pet may need. You would have to choose between health care for your pet and groceries for a family of 5 for at least 1 month just to "stabilize" your pet. The person we spoke with stated that if they "stabilized" him, and continued care to resolve the blockage he would be there for potentially 2 or more days, and estimated the cost to get him healthy again to be between $5000-$7000. As sad as it is, she couldn't afford that cost to keep a stray cat rescued as a kitten alive and had to choose humane euthanasia, especially since his chance of developing another blockage becomes much higher after the first time. I saw so many young families that I can't imagine have $1000+ to spare for unexpected pet care bills. 💔 I realize it's a pet owners responsibility to care for their pet should something come up, however I highly doubt most pet parents are prepared for this kind of expense and would have no choice but to put down a beloved pet because they can't afford emergent care costs and to get ongoing care after the animal was stable.

VCA facility was very helpful, the Dr., and staff helped guide us through letting go of our beloved cat of 12 years. He will be missed. Love you Noche!

Price Gouging to the Max, we as pet owners and lovers have no choice but to scrape up the funds to pay their fees. I know they work hard I know they see heartbreak everyday but they're desensitized to the people that bring in their pets and the financial hardship it is when they know they have to bring it to a veterinarian clinic like this one. I don't want to take away from the staff and the employees and veterinarians they were all kind and friendly. But I waited way too long and was charged too much money for a dog with a sinus infection and I won't be back God willing not to that place..
