How to Save Money at Hamilton Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Greenwood and her assistant, Maria are The total package! No matter the reason for your appointment, when your animal’s name is called, and both of you enter beyond that door, I guarantee this tag-team duel will not only take the best care of your animal but by the time the appointment is over, you, the owner will have to make another appointment to see your Botox Doctor to get the Crow’s feet off of your face. Trust me! 😆 These two will make your day! Thanks, Dr. Greenwood and Maria.

What an amazing place to have in your neighborhood! Dr Greenwood is a rare gem who truly cares about your animals. She is an awesome Dr. And our five dogs and one cat love her!!! Ty Dr Greenwood for being so dedicated to our pets. What a treasure she truly is. They don’t make ‘em like Dr Greenwood much anymore. We love Hamilton Animal Hospital and Dr Greenwood is one reason why! Cannot forget Denise up front, or Dr White! Great people who always go out of their way for us. Hector who assists is also a true gem. Make an appt and see for yourself!

I have been taking my cats to Hamilton Animal Hospital for six years. I really like that they are open seven days a week and offer no anesthesia dental cleanings. Even with the recent change in ownership (we all miss Dr. Barry Love), the staff and vets offer great service. You can tell everyone really cares about the owners and their pets. The practice is very busy, but that is because so many of us know this is the place to go for great pet care. Just last week I brought my cat to see Dr. Landesfeind, she was very through and took time in answering all of my questions.

Thank goodness that I found this place. They have literally saved both of my precious mini-Aussies, 10 year old Burnt Bacon & 15 week old Oreo. Originally I wanted a second opinion for BB when a nearby vet noticed a heart murmur and then recommended all sorts of medications after misreading the X-ray. The pros at Hamilton correctly recommends an echo for her which gave us the details we needed to get the right prescription (one versus 4) and advice to keep her healthy. And then poor little Oreo, shortly after being over prescribed medication for some parasites found in her stool, also from the same “other vet”, started to have blood in her stool. Hamilton jumped on this, calling ahead for me to the local emergency room and then taking her early themselves to properly care for her. They adjusted her medications properly and so far so good. On top of it all, they really took care of my wife who was having a very hard time dealing with all of this after a recent loss in our family. They comforted her, told her that we and our pets are all part of their family and discounted the bill. They didn’t need to do that but it felt so good. We’ll never go anywhere else and you shouldn’t either. Their prices are reasonable, don’t go looking for the cheapest vet out there or you’ll end up like we did.
