How to Save Money at Animal Emergency Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Unavoidable 6 hour wait due to holiday weekend and emergencies but staff was great and vet was great as well. Scooby is doing much better and I’m sure she will be back to her old self by tomorrow. The cost was minimal and the compassion shown was welcomed. I felt bad for the staff who had to deal with irritated owners due to the wait but they handled each person with grace! And this new facility (I went to the old one across the fwy) is quite nice! Thank you for taking such good care of my Scooby!

Do not attempt to visit unless your pet is critical. We left after 7 hours of not being seen (2am). When we called before we picked this place, they had told us it would be 45-60 minutes. I understand the priorities of emergency medicine, but the miscommunication, lack of updates, and overall inability to provide their service make this place unsuitable outside the most dire emergencies.

The care they give your pet is great but telling you to "Just go ahead and give us a call when you are here and we will come out to get your pet" is completely ridiculous. I am positive I called 64 times (all busy signals) I became irritated and impatient and went to door and a girl rushed out to me like I was a crazy person. Before I did my sad walk back to car another girl came and said she had called 114 times. My cat was attacked by a opossum . when we were finally seen vitals taken. Then vet came in went over the cost and she said someone would be right back to get my cat Franklin with my bill too. 2 and 1/2 hours later the vet techs Was back like it was only a few minutes. I was like what the actual hell took this long. No real answer was my answer. .my poor cat was in pain but at least he was finally getting help. 1000$ worth. He should of not been made to wait for a bill that I had already signed and agreed to.i have no idea why we were left in room #3 for 2and half hours. Overall we had an emergency and no other choice.busy overwhelmed or understaffed but maybe a word or two when you leave people in rooms for too long, let them know some thing like they weren't forgotten. Etc. I

First time I ever went to a vets office for my dog and the service was great! All the vets were very caring to my dog and very welcoming. The price isn't bad either in my opinion. We did wait a while but my pet wasn't in critical condition so that was expected. Very clean environment as well.

Was in town for a music festival recently, in the parking lot of the hotel my friend and i were staying at I heard the gut wrenching cries of 2 newborn kittens. I was able to find them and frantically searched for an open emergency clinic, I called and Luanne answered immediately she was very nice and asked all the proper questions, I didn’t have time to call animal control so she said they could take them for the night and get them to the shelter the next day, both girls working on Saturday morning at around 4 am on 3/25 were so very kind and helpful. I was very happy with their compassion and willingness to help. Thank you again! ❤️
