How to Save Money at Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had a great first visit to Vetco Glendale with my dog, Lady. Her paw was red and inflamed, and she was in a lot of pain. Dr. Mitchel and her team were amazing from start to finish. Booking the appointment was easy, and when we arrived, everyone was so welcoming. Lady had an accident in the waiting area, and I felt really embarrassed. But the tech who helped us (I wish I remembered her name) was incredibly kind and made me feel much better about it. She really went out of her way to make sure we felt comfortable. Dr. Mitchel and the tech explained everything clearly, and I left feeling confident in the care Lady received. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend Vetco!! Will be scheduling her routine visits along with dental check ups.

I want to express my deep gratitude and appreciation for Dr. Mitchell and the entire Glendale Vetco team. They have taken such great care of Journey since I first brought her home. Every visit has been a positive experience, thanks to their professionalism and warm, welcoming energy. The office is always spotless, and the entire staff is incredibly kind and attentive. Dr. Mitchell is not only thorough and knowledgeable but always goes the extra mile with thoughtful gestures, like taking a photo of Journey with a beautiful backdrop to match her Halloween bow. It’s the little things like this that truly make a difference, and I appreciate all of their hard work. The front desk team is always so sweet, and the check-in process is a breeze, thanks to the kind gentleman who helps us. From start to finish, every person we interact with is wonderful. I highly recommend this veterinarian to anyone looking for exceptional care!

I’m very upset on how my appointment was handled. They charged me $100+ for a sucky ear cleaning (there was still dirt inside, I do a way better job) which I accepted ONLY because the vet tech stated that doing this whole process would fix her ear issue. I paid $500 in the end only for the infection to reappear 2 days later and they wanted to charge me another $300 for my initial concern. They took a “sample” and didn’t call me to follow up with what the bacteria she had inside her ear was and didn’t give me a proper prescription. They want you to come back every week and pay $$$ for their lack of work. On top of that, they have not sent over the SOAP notes needed to submit a claim.

Nice staff, good service, not expensive and show the plan, tell the price and ask first before charge everything. Very 👍 good. only one thing is clean up the place.

I recently visited Petco Glendale with my pet, and while the vet was competent, our overall experience was disappointing due to the medical technician who checked us in and handled the pricing. The technician’s communication was extremely unprofessional; he spoke to us in a manner that felt dismissive and robotic, almost as if we weren’t humans. He seemed very disconnected and uninterested in providing helpful information or answering our questions. To make matters worse, the technician delivered news about significant trauma to our dog’s trachea with a complete lack of empathy. He didn’t explain what was going on, how to handle the issue, or the seriousness of it. We were left feeling anxious and confused. Fortunately, it turned out not to be very serious, but his dismissive attitude was unprofessional and unacceptable. Additionally, the technician tried to upsell us on multiple services without explaining what they were. He even attempted to sell us medications before conducting any imaging or providing a final diagnosis. Overall, it felt more like dealing with a car dealership than receiving helpful medical treatment from a professional. This interaction significantly impacted our visit, leaving us feeling dissatisfied and questioning whether we’ll return to this clinic. Despite the vet’s adequate care, the lack of empathy, poor communication, and pushy sales tactics from the technician overshadowed the positives. We hope the clinic addresses this issue to improve their customer service.
