How to Save Money at Orange County Emergency Pet Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The team and DVM were so empathetic and understanding around our decision to put our lil Lulu down. It’s been the saddest week of our lives. We received a beautiful card and her paw prints and I am just in tears. This means so much to our family. Thank you for your support and the love….

Had to say goodbye to my dog Bronco after 17 years of being together. I can’t express how thankful I am to have such a great experience at the Orange County emergency pet clinic. The staff was amazing explaining step by step process and they were really patient as this was a very hard time for me. They gave me and my family unlimited time to say good bye to my sweet boy and even after the procedure I was still able to spend time with him. Loosing a pet in my case a member of my family is hard but I want to thank you guys for making this moment easy and unforgettable. 10/10 service and my Bronco was well taken care of thank you❤️

i had to bring in my cat to the ER at 1am and the staff here was beyond excellent! they portrayed so much empathy and admitted us as soon as they could. Very happy with the Dr that saw us (Melina Dayhuff) and the entire staff that took the time to break down my itemized invoice. they made me feel very welcome and very safe. thank you!

Very compassionate & professional staff & doctors. I live in Tustin but have always brought my animals here when an after hours emergency arose. Vet care is expensive anywhere you go and usually Emergency Care is even higher. I can attest to the fact OC Emergency Pet Clinic are very reasonable with fees and doing their best to fight inflation. I lost my 16 year old cat Baby this evening. We both received excellent care.

We have been here several times with both of our animals once for a foreign body removal (9 feminine products), once for lameness in the hind legs, and a third time for a possible blockage in the intestines. Each time we have been treated with kindness and respect. I appreciate how they take the dogs back right away to triage. I also don’t mind that there has been a life-threatening emergency that has come through the doors they take that animal immediately and mine may get pushed to the back of the list. If I ever have to come in with a life-threatening emergency, I appreciate my pet getting attention immediately. Zachary at the front is an absolute gem. He deals with individuals on what could possibly Their life, he is kind, helpful, and knowledge. After triaging your pet they meet with you to discuss what’s going on and what the associated cost would be. They also share records with your regular vet for when you reach out to them following the Emergency. Every doctor we have worked with there has been so kind and understanding. Their prices are very affordable for Emergency Vet care. I wish you don’t have to go here…but if you do, you are in good hands.
