How to Save Money at Brookhaven Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
The door and online lists this vet as being open on Saturday at 7 Am. I even called the night before. I got here at 6:45 AM on Saturday February 24th, and waited until 8:30 AM, was the first person here but a massive line accumulated behind me and NO ONE was here to open. Absolutely ridiculous.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE We took our cat Puff here on Wednesday 5/1/24 where he received a PU surgery. He was sent home with us the same day. They did a blood test and told us everything was high but downplayed the severity. We received a call on Thursday asking us to come in so they could give him fluids, again the severity of his numbers being downplayed treated like a basic routine check-up. By Friday, he was on the fast decline so we took him back in and they suggested we take him to an emergency hospital. The hospital told us that if his numbers were accurate to the test results he never should have left and remained hospitalized. Our poor baby passed away Friday 5/3/24 at 11:54 because these crooks stole what little time he had for actual doctor to do something for him. If you love your animals DO NOT GO HERE

⭐POSITIVE BUNNY NEUTER EXPERIENCE!⭐ I took my 10 month old Holland Lop bunny to be neutered this past Monday! Reception was very friendly and answered all my questions! Rabbits are INCREDIBLY delicate creatures so my anxiety and worry were through the roof! The gentleman who took my bunny answered all my questions no problem post OP! I recieved instructions and pain medication for 3 days and my bunny rabbit is making a speedy recovery! It's been 3 days after the procedure and it appears everything is going incredibly well so far! The price was also unbeatable for those who are on a bit of a budget! Overall I am relieved it went well and my bunny is back home with me safe and healing! :)

The BEST! So incredibly caring and fair. I was told by several other vets that my cat had multiple teeth that needed to be extracted with price quotes of @3k+. When I picked my ca up from Brookhave, they said no teeth needed to be extracted. My cats teeth were super clean. They gave me a month's supply of thyroid meds. Bill was just @$300.

Brookhaven’s very own, Dayle Tamura, should not be allowed to practice. She has neglected her own horse who can’t stand and is cruelly suffering a terrible slow and painful death. This level of neglect, and coming from someone who swore an oath to protect animals, is unfathomable. If she won’t even take care of her own pet and will allow him to cruelly die in a manner that no animal should have to endure WHY would you ever trust her with your fur baby?!?!
