How to Save Money at Cedar Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I can count the amount of times I went to Cedar on my fingers, but my experiences have gone quite well. The vets are knowledgeable and they allow you to choose treatment as you see fit. If you see something you disagree on it’s easy to remove it from your plan and whatnot. However, experience also somewhat depends on which vet sees your pet, some explain things thoroughly, others don’t. I do want to add that at times the receptionists can be a bit unwelcoming. And yes, the wait time for a walk-in is ridiculously long. Wait time for appointments, however, are not; you’re in and you’re out. I would say it is on the pricier side, but it isn’t absurd. The place is kept as clean as it can be with so many coming and going. Overall it’s a good experience, but I would recommend making an appointment.

My husband is a mailman and would come across the sweetest stray dog. One day he noticed that she did not come to greet him. He later found her 3 blocks from where she normally is and discovered that she was attacked by a larger dog. He called me and I rushed her to Cedar Veterinary. The staff was incredibly sweet and helpful. The doctor was incredible and provided her with the most quality of care! Her name is now Zelda and she is getting healthy! She was rescued right in time for Thanksgiving! Thank you to all the wonderful staff who helped!!!

I took my dog in the morning to get her leg amputated and the estimate was roughly 3,600 and they had told me they would call me before and after her surgery but they called me until after the procedure which was not a huge deal. When they called they said my bill was roughly at 3,100 I asked what made it go down and the receptionist said that my dog had to stay over night for observation and her medications would be administered next morning which would make the bill go up to the initial estimate (3,600). I asked if I could just bring her home and give her the medicine myself because 3,000 on a vet bill is already a high amount. They recommended she stay overnight but I simply could not afford it. When I arrived to pick my baby up the staff was verbally aggressive trying to convince me to leave my dog there over night. I explained to her that they were already overpriced and I couldn’t afford it I was trying to save myself about $500. She continued to ask if my leg was amputated if I would want top care! Keep in mind she didn’t take us into a room we were at the waiting room where everyone was just staring at us. The whole experience was traumatic and their staff made it no better. They just seemed money hungry because at no point did she show sympathy. My pup is 10 days post operation and Cedar Veterinary Hospital has not called to follow up! I have already contacted another veterinary office to get a check up and get her stitches removed.

I went in for a follow up which I had made an appointment when I last visited. My appointment was at 5pm and they had me wait in the lobby till 530pm. I went up to the receptionist and I told her that I had a 5pm appointment and it's just a follow up. She replied, "you only been here for 10 minutes. I said, "what's the Point of making an appointment". The receptionist had an attitude and was unprofessional and rude. I drove from Lemoore and I had to leave without my dog being seen by the vet. A waste of $500 for a simple procedur and the only reason I went there was they were the only vet that where open late. I'll never go there again!

They've always been kind. I've always had a great experience. Sadly my last visit I lost my pet I've had for many years. They were all nice to us and attentive with our pain. I miss my furr baby so much but they have always managed to get my pets health to have them healthy for many years.
