How to Save Money at Mountain Aire Veterinary Hospital, Inc.
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I called as they are our only vet in Lebec & Frazier Park area. I did only 4 stars due to the vet was away on a business trip all that week. The young man that answered the phone was courteous, however it was quickly understood I could find no help for a extremely sick malnourished kitten that was brought to me over the weekend.

Vets in my area were all booked out for new patients OR we’re too expensive OR had histories of negligence/bad BBB scores. We sought this one out although it was 45+ minutes away, we take our fur babies care and treatment very seriously, especially with a rough history of aggressive vets that were incredibly greedy and lacked empathy. We were severely misquoted on the phone but when we had brought it to their attention, they took it upon themselves to make it up to us and hold a meeting in order to prevent this from happening to anyone again. They sent a lovely postcard and honored the misquote by refunding us, Dr. Cosko is lovely and very caring. She was very communicative and is a great listener. She cared about correcting the situation rather than being defensive, and that is one amazing quality to have in a vet based on my prior experience with other vets- the complete opposite. This is a lovely office that allows you to go in with your pet so you can comfort them during their fearful times, I could never step foot in another vet office that does not allow the same. Too many vets no longer allow you to go in with your pets. The employees were all kind and make an effort to chat with you rather than acting as robots behind a desk. It’s a lively place, you can see the love for animals the moment you step in. Don’t be afraid of sharing your concerns and asking many questions for the sake of your pet, they are more than happy to put you at ease. This vet office is transparent and honest, what more could you wish for?

Facility nice and clean, nice staff BUT to take our pets for vaccines and get ripped off with a $400 bill and no vaccines yet just bc the Doc. said this is not a vaccine clinic and performed a titer test first? hmmm indeed she does her own practice . Not sure if will be back, our pets gotta wait for 7 days for blood result test and without vaccination! how is that! hug! Lol amazing!!! We think she does what she does bc she knows is the only one in FP. Too bad, I wish others vets move on to the town.

My Breeder for my new Puppy was using this Vet Service. I attended 2 puppy appointments and have been impressed with their professional services and home doctor atmosphere. It it was not an hour drive to the vet I would use their services regularly.

This is an amazing place. The vet is so wonderful, caring, and skilled. Her employees are amazing too! I live in Bakersfield and I would rather drive here to Lebec than go anywhere else! And Rosie (my dog) loves this place too!
