How to Save Money at VCA Acacia Animal Hospital and Pet Resort
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
We've been taking our pup here for the last 2ish years. Our most frequent services we used were Overnight Boarding and Sedated Nail Trim. It is very hard to find a place to trust especially with sedation AND to find a place that can handle a dog that is aggressive towards other pets. For boarding they have special services to keep him separate so there is no accidents. (SO STRESSFUL as the dog mom!!) After his first stay my fears were smothered! They absolutely loved our pup and I knew they actually cared about his well being & understood what type of care he needed. Every time we were there they would recognize him by name and adored having him. Now that we have moved out of state I had to request his medical records to another Vet. I talked with Jolene - She helped me transfer the medical records. She was incredibly sweet!!! So refreshing to talk to someone that is so cheerful!!!!! I am all about reviews and leave them honestly! I can't say enough good things! Over 2 years of visits almost every 6 weeks on average and then all the times we had to board him for our long weekend trips.....yes this place is GREAT!!!!!! Over that time period I can't even recall having any type of issue with the staffing or services big or little. Hope this helps someone who is looking for a great place to trust with their pets.

I was so blown away by the kindness and care that everyone at this place showed me and especially Hannah, from walking me through every detail of what to expect and next steps. I came in after a horrific situation with my bunnies and didn’t know what to do. I was showered with love, kindness, attention, and care. Thank you so much for caring for me on this day, it was such a hard day for me but one that God redeemed through the kindness and care that you showed me. Thank you so much for all that you did for me. I will never forget it. God bless you all!

I made the mistake of coming here out of convenience. I took my puppy in for an examination due to loose stool and they asked what vaccines she’s had. I told them and the vet tech lectured me on the importance of them for 10 minutes. I told her I understood and had already done all the required shots and would be waiting on the others. 3 months later, I made an appointment for rabies shot. My husband had to take the puppy in when he got there they told him she NEEDED 3 other shots as well and handed him the paperwork to sign without explaining further. When I called them for an explanation about the matter later, they passed me around to different people and told me that my husband signed for it and that everything they did was age appropriate and that there was no note about it being rabies only (even though the previous two representatives admitted it was in the chart). Very disappointed in their desire to make more money off of pushing vaccines on people all at once.

Comfortable waiting room, helpful receptionist. Relief areas for dogs outside. Professional & knowledgeable staff happy to answer questions. Nurse and Veterinary Doctor explained symptoms and possibilities related to our pet's illness. Unfortunately after x-ray & diagnosis, our pet had a degenerative terminal illness, and the only logical solution was to humanely euthenize (I decided). I deeply appreciate the patience and compassion shown by the Doctor, nurse and attending staff at Acacia. The sincerity and compassion spoke volumes to us.

These vets really care! Their staff really cares! Hannah is tremendous; I asked her if the vet could help me with my situation, she put me on hold and went to ask. They didn't have an available appointment, so she let me do a drop off! They're so wonderful, and dynamic in their approach to care. They just impress me every time. I would give more stars, if I could.
