How to Save Money at Parkway Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
This is the place where you bring your cats for excellent care, seen by friendly and professional staff, led by veterinarians who are highly communicative to pet owners as they examine pets for routine check-ins and check-ups. Dr. Tanner is a wonderful vet, who talked about our cat's weight, advising us on feeding routines to control it, as she examined Peppercorn, who needed her shots updated. I highly recommend this medical facility for pets of all kinds, in particular the dogs and cats that dominate the population of animals owned by humans in an urban environment!

Dr Tanner is amazing and so caring! She truly listens and is a wonderful care partner, whether it’s a normal check up, or something more. Thank you Dr Tanner!

Been going to Parkway for a lot of years. At least 4 dogs and a cat. I really liked them with the original founder many years ago. He was so good with my labs and husky mixes. After he retired it seemed like they went through a number of doctors and it was a little annoying not knowing who you would see each time I took a pet in. I started insisting on seeing the same doc for consistency. However, during and after the peak of Covid it was getting difficult to get appointments and very difficult just to talk to someone either in the office or especially a doc. Constantly leaving messages and hoping to get a reply in any timely manner. We ended up trying another vet but were woefully dissatisfied. When we needed a vet for a minor emergency we went back to Parkway and it seemed they got several new docs again (maybe new management/ownership). We were concerned at first but am very happy to say that the new docs have made a big improvement. We are very happy with the new docs and have had good experiences the last few times we have gone in. The one suggestion I would give is that I am not entirely comfortable when they take my dogs to the back out of my sight to administer vaccines/meds. Not that I don't trust them, I would just feel better if I could be present. If it were your kids, you wouldn't let them take your kids away out of your sight to get shots. Otherwise, we are happy and will continue to bring our pets here.

Great experience with Dr. Anita Luu! She took her time with my pet to discuss options and give me important tips. Really great Dr. Very genuine, I could tell her and her team really cared. Even told me I could email her which I have never heard from a vet. They got me in same day which is such a relief when your pet is not feeling well. Highly recommend.

We came to Parkway for a second opinion on our dog’s diagnosis of Degenerative Disc Disease. We were very unhappy with the communication from our OLD vet who didn’t do a good job educating us or helping us feel like we could do more to help our dog. Annita Luu DVM was amazing. She answered all my questions and did a physical exam of my dog - in front of me and not in the back - and even sent a follow up email with everything we discussed containing articles to read, Neurologist phone numbers, ideas for natural care and links to harnesses and supplements that might help. She even found an OLD fox tail in my dog’s ear that the old vet the week before had missed and was able to remove it without hurting my dog. I was blown away by her care and attention to me and my dog, and plan to transfer both my dog’s to this clinic. I left feeling hopeful and ready to care for my dog after a week of worry and sadness. I would highly recommend Annita Luu if you’re looking for a vet.
