How to Save Money at Modern Animal
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I couldn't be happier with my experience at Modern Animal! Their app makes scheduling appointments and chatting with vets so easy and convenient. I've had a membership for a while now and have learned so much more from the vets at Modern Animal than my previous vet. My visit today was fantastic. Dr. Braun was so informative and absolutely adored my dog. Plus, the modern and sleek interiors of the clinic create such a calming and comfortable atmosphere for both me and my pet. Thank you, Modern Animal, for providing such exceptional care for my dogs! 🩵🐾🦴

I had my first visit today after they were highly recommended by a friend and it may have been the best vet visit I ever had! My 90lb pup is pretty nervous and historically has been hard to manage in these settings, but they were patient and kind with her. They even got a rectal temp without her really noticing 😳. They were knowledgable and discussed immediate recommendations as well as future things to consider. It felt like they truly cared for my girl. Lastly, the app and all of their offerings just can’t be beat!

Modern animal has been such a good place for us. Staff is wonderful, super loving and compassionate. I’ve been taking my cat Mary since their very first location opened. In December of 2022, Mary was diagnosed with mammary cancer and Dr. De silva performed a bilateral mastectomy. After surgery, the staff was available for all of my questions and would reach out regularly just to ask how Mary was doing. Words cannot express my gratitude for the care, the recommendations they gave and the sincere follow ups to make sure that Mary was recovering. Thank you for all you do modern animal - we love ya'll!

I love modern animal , however this branch is a hot mess. Their techs are scattered and overworked. At the beginning of the visit they had so many plans for my baby and so I ended up being charged for a cysto / clean urine sample and a nail trim both of which they could not complete because they traumatized my dog by starting with the blood draw that he couldn’t sit still for (got poked twice). It seems like in a rush when they checked me out they didn’t realize they forgot to take it off. I’m messaging the team online but it’s honestly super annoying having to check your invoices word for word to know what you’re charged for (since the person at the front desk didn’t even have the time to go through it with me). Will avoid this branch in the future. EDIT: Originally was a 1 star changed to 4 (although it’s annoying to have gone through the earlier inconvenience) their care team is dedicated to improvement. Received a call from Ronica today who went through the details of what went wrong with me and my pup and offered some credit for future trims etc. Again, overall extremely happy with modern animal and this was just a hiccup with the branch

Loves the vibe of this vet. The app is super easy to use, and the staff were all friendly. They even offered us cold brew or water while we waited. We only had to wait 10 minutes for the tech to come get us, but we had a much longer wait once in the room. However, it didn't feel any longer than any other vet we'd been to. Just wish we didn't wait at all. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars. The cutest thing was the thank you bag at the end with a handwritten note inside and a bone for my puppets. He loves it. They have a few parking spots directly off Jefferson in the front of the building.
