How to Save Money at Sacred Hearts Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr Owen's and her staff are amazing!! I have 5 babies who all have different personalities and they all cater to each and everyone of them. She makes them comfortable and waits for them to calm down so they aren't frightened when she sees them. She also gets down to their level and is so patient and kind to them. I love how she explains everything to me in detail. My babies are my life and I trust Dr Owen's and her staff with them 💯. I wish there were more veterinarian doctors like her.

This is by far the worst vet experience I have ever had and I urge everyone to reconsider before coming here. I adopted a 6 week old kitten and made a vet appointment here right away to get her checked out. I told them all my information on the phone, how long I had her, what I was concerned about, and they made me an appointment for 4 days later. I showed up to the appointment 10 minutes early. They had all my info wrong: spelled my name wrong, had the wrong age for the kitten, had my phone number wrong, had my concerns wrong. 45 (!!) minutes after my appointment time they could finally see me. No apologies or mentions about the fact they ran 45 mins late. They asked me health questions about my cat in the front lobby in front of other patients before bringing me to a small room. The rooms did not have AC and were incredibly hot. Another patient came out to complain and they told them to go back in their room and that the AC was fine. It was not fine. They then shamed me for bringing in my kitten so early. They said I should have spent at least 1 week monitoring the kitten for problems and to bring her in when I knew if there was anything wrong. I told them I was here to make sure nothing was wrong in the first place??? Then they told me she was too young for any shots and I shouldn't have come in. Why didn't they tell me that on the phone when I told them her age and that I wanted the shots? They gave me flea meds where the package said for kittens 8 weeks and up or at least 2 pounds. My kitten was only 6 weeks and 1 pound. I asked if they were sure it was safe and they said yes. I googled it and the manufacturing website said absolutely not safe! Finally, I asked for a refund on a service that was never performed. They agreed but then only credited my account. I told them I would not be returning and wanted an actual refund. They said I had to come in person for that but would leave a note on my account and I could come down at any time. I drove to the office only to find out they were all on lunch and the only person there didn't know how to do refunds so I was "out of luck". Please please please, if you are considering a vet's office, make sure it is not this one.

Everybody here is so kind and caring. Love the doctors and the staff. This is definitely someone you want to bring your pet too. They can be trusted and they might be a little bit more expensive but they're definitely worth it.

I have been taking my dog here since we rescued him in July and I have been happy every single appointment we have had. The first appt we had, Dr. Owens called me and was extremely thorough with the information from the exam. The staff has ALWAYS been super friendly and helpful and my puppy likes going there and feels very comfortable with them. I highly recommend this vet.
