How to Save Money at Chula Vista Veterinary
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
We should have listen to the reviews!! They are overpriced and care about getting the best price out of you!! Worst place to take you pet!!! Avoid at all cost. Apparently the Dr doesn’t explain the process completely nor do the front personal that work there. Once we got the bill we went over to the clinic immediately because it was outrageous. As we arrive the Dr apparently already proceeded with certain procedures she didn’t mention over the phone. Apparently they like to go forward with procedures and add “necessary procedures” without advising the entire process. We asked them about the bill and they took us to a room to “explain” however we didn’t budge and told them we’re not paying this outrageous bill. They gave us out dog unfortunately we had to pay for what was already done to our dog without our knowledge.

Called in for an appointment for my Holland Lop and was told they only take walk ins. I get there and they say they don't care for rabbits here at this location. Why couldn't you tell me this over the phone. We visited 3 emergency rooms yesterday and this is the only that we weren't greeted coming in. We stood around for a few minutes to be acknowledge by two ladies in the lobby even tho there was no one in line. Please work on your customer service.

See reviews for Pet Emergency Specialty Center (SAME PLACE) I have used this place for emergencies on at least 2 occasions and rated it in the 4 to 5 range but after my visit to day I can see why the reviews are now coming in as 2's and 1's. I brought my dog over and the technician met me, I pointed out the lymphedema on her right leg and growth and also told her that now skin lesions were mysteriously occurring. She kept on stating that if it's a skin condition I should see a dermatologist.. over and over, did not feel she was listening to my concerns at all. Finally I picked up my dog and started to leave and all she could say was, "I'll let the Vet know you decided to leave". Not another car in the lot. I guess they appreciate the light workload. Very unfortunate for me and my dog. I suppose the vet might be good if you can get past the vet tech. This visit was Aug 1, 2020 at approximately 1:15pm.

My pet had an EMERGENCY and they told me I had to wait OUTSIDE FOR 5 OR MORE HOURS because they where "Too busy with other patients" when no other cars where in the parking lot"....obviously I didn't wait the 5 or more hours so I left, then I got a call saying they where ready to see her but since I wasn't outside waiting they just went on with another patient. Are they joking or something? This place is a JOKE. I am VERY dissatisfied with this place. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER COMING HERE. Unless they see that your dog is dying they won't do a damn thing.
