How to Save Money at Carter Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Dr. Carter is very kind and professional as is the fabulous Vet Tech Martha. Dr Carter & Martha were so caring when I thought I would lose my 14 year old JakeRyan. They also took care of my 11 year old Sasha, who has an enlarged heart when she needed severe dental surgery. They BOTH are happy and healthy.

I been calling for 3 days and no one answers the phone. I decided to stop by and make an appointment yesterday at 4:30 pm and this clinic was closed., when it closes at 5:00 pm. The posted sign on the door indicated they do close at five but it looked like an abandoned clinic. I finally stopped this morning and even with a live person it was a struggle to get some help. My pet is updated with all the shots but the individual insisted she need one. I presented my pets historical shots and still insisted on giving a shot to my pet. PETCO now has a veterinarian and that’s where we are head now. The doctor was great when we took our pet for the first time. He was caring and informative with me. But the receptionists were no help. Good luck if you decide to take your best friend here.

Women at the front desk aren't very friendly. 1st visit went okay, tried to call back 3 times, leaving two messages about my sick puppy and never received a return response. Not very happy with the customer service here, lacks a whole lot.

Very pleasent staff and nice facility. The Dr. always provides the blood work and also a invoice draft showing break down of pricing of services to decide what I wanted taken care of first for either my dogs or cat.

*** Updating to Zero Stars - Janine hung up on me twice. Then got her again and she said, ooooh, sorry thought the conversation was over. 😳 Someone in management needs to address this person. *** Dr Carter is amazing. Great service and fast. There’s a front desk woman that is lovely and I think her name is Lori, the other one, Janine, should be fired. I overheard her on the phone when checking in with Lori…and I was appalled at how rude she was. Thought thank goodness I didn’t get her. Even murmuring negative things out loud after the call ended. Tried to give her the benefit of the doubt thinking that it was the caller being rude and she was just reacting (which is still not ok). Since visiting there in person, I’ve called the vet 3 separate times and have had the unfortunate luck of getting her for every call. She’s AWFUL, rude, snarky and very sincerely should be fired. The worst front desk experience person there could be (a High School kid would be a better hire!). If you keep her on staff, do your clients a favor and move her out of customer contact!! She’s the reason I can’t give 5 stars. She makes me want to leave 0 stars.
