How to Save Money at Happy Valley Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Had really good care from both Dr. Goh and Cheung. They took the time to listen and address of long list of new puppy owner concerns. The vet techs are really helpful and knowledgeable as well. One time, we were unsure whether to bring our puppy in for a vet consultation for a minor problem, the team was able to provide an evaluation over email/pictures and saved us time and money for an in person trip.

We switched over our 2 dogs to this vet and couldn’t be happier! One of our dogs struggles with strangers and this hospital is very committed to their fear free techniques. They were incredibly accommodating and even let us do our visit in the parking lot to give our reactive dog more space. Our second dog loves everyone but even then they made sure to take their time with her. One of the techs(I forgot her name!) even played tug with our pup for almost 20 minutes to make her comfortable. She was able to give her the vaccine while she was playing! We worked with 2 different vets and 2 vet techs and all 4 were incredible. I’m going to start bringing our cats here next! Also the front desk is always incredibly pleasant and accommodating to any special needs our pups may have.

Dr. Goh is nice and knowledgeable. Had our first puppy exam with her. They need a little better communication with clients. We were there for over 2 hours with a scheduled appointment that included maybe 30 minutes if interactions . I will be back, and I am generally happy with their care. Just need to plan for plenty of time when heading there. My friend that was with me thought they needed to improve the interior design. HVPH - thanks for your reply.

My pup Jim has visited Happy Valley since he was 3 months old and has utilized routine services, more intense work ups due to GI issues, and surgery for dental extractions. As a result, we are very familiar with the doctors, techs, and reception staff, and we are very satisfied and happy with their treatment and care. I want to add that our family especially appreciated Dr. Cheung and team when Jim experienced months of seemingly inexplicable GI issues. It was a really worrisome and stressful time for our family. Throughout it all, Dr. Cheung was knowledgeable, compassionate, and always kind as she guided us on an effective course of discovery and treatment. I think Jim would also agree to give Happy Valley a full 5-star review as evidenced by his happy tail wags and endless offerings of kisses every time he visits. Thanks for taking such good care of our Jim, Happy Valley team, and helping keep him happy and healthy.

Happy Valley Pet Hospital is an excellent choice for pet owners looking for a friendly and professional veterinary service. I have been taking my puppy Rogers to this hospital since he was 8 weeks old and I have always had a great experience. The staff at Happy Valley Pet Hospital is exceptionally courteous and kind. They take utmost care of the animals who come in for treatment and truly love their work. Rogers is always happy to be there and loves everyone at the hospital. He refuses to leave and I can tell that he is very comfortable with the staff. The veterinarians are experienced and knowledgeable, and they take the time to explain everything in detail. When we have visited for Rogers' shots and diarrhea, we received a detailed bill afterward with the next steps to take. It was reassuring to know that everything was taken care of and we had a clear understanding of the treatment plan. Overall, I highly recommend Happy Valley Pet Hospital to anyone looking for a compassionate and professional veterinary service. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and they truly love and care for the animals that come through their doors. If you're looking for a trustworthy and reliable place to take your pets, Happy Valley Pet Hospital is the perfect choice.
