How to Save Money at Vital Equine Holistic Veterinary Medicine
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Rhiannon Fenton is an outstanding holistic veterinarian. She is very professional, spot on with her treatment plans, and follows up with you to see how her patient is doing. She actually takes the time to thoroughly explain what is physically or mentally going on with your animal and the course of treatment she recommends to heal them. She is very knowledgeable and practices with a loving kind heart. She has been nothing short of amazing with my animals. and I would highly recommend her !!!

Dr. Fenton gives her all to the animals she works with. I won't be able to make this short because this woman has done more for me and my animals than I can ever repay her for. I have been seeing her as a client since having worked with her at a small animal holistic clinic and she has never lost her passion to learn so that she can help animals to the best that she can. She would spend so much time looking for answers if she could not find it, contacting specialists and universities for help. Her ego does not get in the way like some doctor's do. This is why the animals she works with thrive. When doctors told me that it was time to put my cat Sophie down, she gave us another two months of quality life. I realized then, how effective whole food nutritional therapy could be even in a case that most vets thought was hopeless. Sophie's internist, emergency vet and staff were always surprised at how much energy and life Sophie had. The best thing about the whole process was that I was active in her journey and I did not feel completely helpless and that allowed me to enjoy my time with my precious girl. Dr. Fenton first worked on my dog, Patty

Dr. Fenton is like no other vet I've ever met! She immediately "read" the mind, body, and spirit of my mare, Shamira, and recognized an undiagnosed thyroid issue. Shamira is a rescue, and Dr. Fenton treated her with the utmost kindness and respect. Her allopathic experience is matched by her wisdom and intuition, and the rare gift of expertise in chiropractic, acupuncture and NET -- which revealed Shamira's history, and allowed Dr. Fenton to heal trauma on the spot. Dr. Fenton also discovered areas of pain in her neck, and treated them as well. It was a miraculous session and I am eternally grateful. I feel SO lucky to have found Dr. Fenton, and confident she will help Shamira have a long, happy, healthy life!

Dr. Fenton is simply the best! The proof is in the results. Dr. Fenton is a medical detective of sorts. She works tirelessly to find the root of the problem and treats the entire horse. I recently discovered a horse in peril that needed help and asked Dr.Fenton to step in. I was hoping to find an answer to the horses consistent daily seizures. Dr. Fenton looked at the entire horse. She did a blood panel, muscle tests and other tests. Dr Fenton noticed her teeth had not been floated in many years. It was so bad that the teeth issues had caused such severe pain causing nerve interference. I appreciated the way Dr. Fenton patiently, lovingly and pain free floated the teeth. She has a power free technique that is important for overall horse health. Almost immediately thé horse was looking and feeling so much better. It’s been many months and our sweet girl is officially feeling great and seizure free! If it were not for Dr. Fenton figuring out exactly what was needed we don’t think our dear girl would have survived much longer. We are forever grateful that she took the time necessary to look and think beyond the usual scope. Dr. Fenton’s approach to the whole horse is very important and necessary. She is extremely educated as a medical vet and so much more. Dr. Fenton has brilliantly applied many functional medical techniques successfully to animals. She has an important connection with each animal she treats and has all the necessary tools, talents and education to discover the root of the problem along with the proper treatment based on the best interests of the animal. I am forever thankful for Dr. Fenton. She is a gifted, loving and caring vet- truly one of a kind.
