How to Save Money at Bear Valley Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I don't know exactly what words to use except for exceptional! This hospital is the primary one I use for my babies. My poor baby was hurting really bad. She was attacked by the most unexpected one. Her sister. I don't blame it all on her sister but she's the one that probably did the most damage. Dr velasco took real good care of my baby. He was actually surprised that she survived such an attack. But nevertheless they cared for my baby to where now she's running around and playing like nothing ever happened. When the attack happened, she had to spend the night at the emergency animal hospital. That one night in emergency was so expensive, I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to afford the rest of her treatment and care from Dr velasco. He was so sympathetic for what happened that he took it upon himself to give me a huge discount. I don't think he did it for me, he probably did it for my baby. Over the past couple months I had to take my baby to receive treatment. Which now she is a regular and the staff loves her. I'm going to have to take her down there just to visit. When it comes to animal Care in the high desert, Bear valley animal hospital is definitely the one to go to.

Very good service. They answered all of my. They were extremely busy. Still, we were treated me as if I was the only person in the building. I thank you and Boomer thanks you.

I am so happy to have such a wonderful primary vet for my dogs and cats. I haven’t had a bad experience with any of the vets on staff, but I will say Dr Anderson is exceptional. She has taken such great care of my senior dog, Orion, with all his kidney issues that have recently cropped up. She is so knowledgeable and I never feel rushed or pushed off when I have questions. I’d also like to mention that the women who work the front counter are amazing as well. I highly recommend this vet office.

LOL. is all I can do, I called MULTIPLE clinics looking for the best priced clinics to get two feral kittens spayed that I had rescued. I chose this place as they were very pricey but I was able to get two different organizations to help donate to the service. I fully budgeted, saved and planned to spend a nice penny even with the donations. With that being spent I planned to spend at most $350. I planned this out to make sure my kitties were too young not small to also help with the cost. Well that was pointless because somehow at 4 months and 4 lbs each, the kittens were both in heat and I had to pay an additional $200 putting the total cost at $587. So much for the donations, I feel scammed. I will be asking for records of the vets notes during the surgery so have some type of documentation or proof that my kittens were actually in heat. I did ask for some type of proof when I picked up my babies but then lady at the desk said they have profited rid of any “ proof “ or ask the technician which is what I did and she began to smirk almost laugh and said I’d have to call and request them. Which I think is crazy because why couldn’t the vet provide me some proof right then n there or call and notify me of the situation. Makes no sense and makes me wonder if the rest of the people that came in with a similar situation also had this outcome of their cat just “in heat”. I guess it makes sense though how they are even able to take donations.
