How to Save Money at Alhambra Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Thank you Dr Gil and Dr Gabriele!! Mona would not have been cured without your timely and accurate diagnosis. I’m part of a FIP treatment group where so many kittens passed away due to their vet not having the knowledge about this disease and delaying the treatment. Everyone at your practice has been super kind and patient with Mona even though he can be quite difficult from time to time. I can’t thank you all enough for giving Mona a second chance to experience this wonderful world. Thank you Stephanie (hope I got your name correctly sorry was too excited and forgot to ask😂) for the graduation gift! Mona loves it ❤️ Wish everyone the best! Mona and I will be your forever customer :)

My 11 year old dog was in major need of dental work. Out of my own personal anxiety I kept pushing back the care that he needed. Thankfully I came to Alhambra Veterinary Hospital under the care of Dr. Gil. Not only did he easy my anxiety but helped my dog feel comfortable and relaxed during our visit. After carefully examining my dog, Dr. Gil recommend several extractions and to be honest, I was very nervous about what life would be like for my dog after, but again, Dr. Gil and his staff eased my nervous and made the process easy. My dog had the dental procedure and everything went great. Dr. Gil's office followed up and checked in with me afterwards because they knew how nervous I was and wanted to make sure my dog and I were ok. And just as Dr. Gil said, my dog quickly recovered and bounced back. I'm so thankful for the care he received at Alhambra Vet Hospital as my dog no longer has pain when eating and his breath is 100% better. I'm really happy to have found Dr. Gil's practice as it has been the best veterinarian care my dog has ever received. You can tell he and his staff really care about their patients, their families and the care they provide. PS: my dog is a happy little guy again now that he can play with his toys without any pain. Thank you, Dr. Gil!

We used to love this vet - she was super kind, practical, and compassionate, and they were always very reasonable. My dog trusted her. A+ Now, there’s new ownership and I would NOT recommend. Don’t go here. Now I can’t get out of here for less than $500, even for simple things. My dog is terrified of the vet and the new vet muzzles him - which terrifies him more - and which the old vet never had to do. My father takes my dog in if it’s a day appointment and he didn’t want to have my dog muzzled. The new vet tried some power play that he’s the new boss in the place and told my dad to get out of the room. Well, my dad wasn’t having that, so the vet (and tag teaming staff) shouted at him to get out. And take my $500 somewhere else? My pleasure. If you’re scared of dogs and can only handle them muzzled, don’t be a vet. Bye.

A good friend and my dog Ginger's trainer highly recommended AVH. Ginger has been a patient for some time now. From annual well visits to being spayed. Dr. Gill personally called me after her surgery to let me know all went well. He placed her in my arms when she was ready to be released. And explained her post operative care to us in detail. The entire Team is extremely professional, accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend this Veterinary Hospital.
