How to Save Money at Marine and Fraser Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We found out that my cat Luna, has got epilepsy, the day after his first seizure we where able to get medicine for him right away, we are able to go to them for any emergency and they always call you the next day after an appointment to check up on how your pet is doing. Everyone is so nice and caring and they saved my babies life and i couldn't be more thankful and my nana helped me with bills. I love the service here and this will be my main veterinary clinic since its close to home. Thank you staff ❤️

Dr Singh and his lovely team of vet techs have always been able to make visits comfortable for my husky. They’ve helped us with vaccinations, skin issues, tapeworms, ear infections, and bloodwork. Their treatments and procedures are always clearly explained and have always worked well for us. Their facility is lovely and clean, with all their equipment and furnishings being new and modern. Their operating hours are long and a lot of the time we are able to get same-day appointments which is really convenient. My favourite thing is the calm and professional energy which allows my dog to settle comfortably during visits

I took my 6 year old Labrador to see Dr. Jatana because he was losing weight, vomiting and was very lethargic. Dr. Jatana quickly discovered that he had a large mass in his abdomen. An exploratory surgery was scheduled right away. I felt incredibly comfortable leaving my baby in Dr. Jatana's hands. When the surgery was complete Dr. Jatana showed me the mass, turns out it was a collection of clumping cat litter, he had been eating it for some time. His recovery was smooth and he is a different dog now, gaining weight, no vomiting and as energetic as a Labrador should be. I am forever grateful for Dr. Jatana's kindness and expertise, he saved my baby. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Jatana for all your pets needs 🥰

Excellent friendly staff, clean facilities, and knowledgeable doctors! Would recommend to anybody. They accommodated any concerns I had, clearly explained all the health issues affecting my cat Beaker and they provided me with estimates for all of their services, so no surprise bills. I'll be relying on them in the future!

We were very grateful and cannot thank Dr. Jatana, Dr Singh and his staff enough for our 14-year-old Cairn Terrier recovery journey. My dog experienced trembling over a long weekend and we were not able to book an appointment with his original vet until mid-next week. Luckily, Marine & Fraser had a last-minute opening, so we took our dog there. I am glad that the clinic has all the equipment for emergency diagnosis, turned out our dog has pretty serious issues with his spleen. Dr. Jatana explained the urgency of the surgery and was able to schedule a spleen removal in the next few days. Even though it was a high-risk surgery, Dr. Jatana's experiences, skills, and attention to detail made the surgery and post-surgery monitoring an excellent experience. My dog is recovering well now. One suggestion is that if the clinic has overnight stays for surgery patients, that would be 6 STARS!! We were nervous and worried that we had to bring our dog back home to monitor the night after surgery. Nevertheless, Dr. Jatana and his team provided detailed instructions for us and have taken really good care of our dog during the subsequent days for close monitoring. Thank you very much! I highly recommend them!
