How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Group
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
This is the best emergency vet, heck this is the best vet, period. We brought in our Golden Retriever after *allegedly* eating a dishwasher pod. (Pod in question was found, intact, once we returned home 🙌🏻). Jenna worked with us the most and she is phenomenal. The vet Dr. Lance was phenomenal too! Affordable, REAL care, you walk in, and they are ready and accessible. They let you stay with your pet the entire time and keep you super informed. They take it really seriously and are very genuine in their care for both the two and four legged members of your family. At some vets it seems like thy are just trying to extract as much money as possible while you are scared for your sick pup, that did not happen here at all. They did what was prudent, necessary, and cautious. I am so wildly impressed by this clinic. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone in need of care and they'll be our go-to from now on.

I can’t thank VEG enough!! Our boy Bronson was prescribed some meds by a different vet and the very first day of two pills caused heavy gastrointestinal bleeding. Profuse amounts of blood in his stool causing it to turn black at one point along with severe dehydration. After 4hrs of sitting at VCA on 22nd and never even being seen or checked on we walked out!! We looked up VEG on Google and read the great reviews and decided to give it a go. Not only was it cheaper exam than VCA the care was beyond outstanding! The second we walked in the door we were greeted and taken to an area where they gave my dog an actual dog bed. We lined it with puppy pads to prevent accidents. It really made him feel comfortable from the get go. They immediately took his vitals and were initially greeted by not one but two doctors. Dr. key was our doc and she got down on the ground with Bronson and talked to him and petted him and tried to make him feel as comfortable as possible while running the ultrasound to check for fluids as you can see in the pics. The doc was very knowledgeable and wanted to do everything to treat our boy and get him on the mend. She was very friendly and her communication was top notch. We were finally able to breathe a sigh of relief knowing he is getting quality care. Every tech or doc that walked past greeted him. The facility is very clean and has an open concept where you can see everything. But also has private rooms you can be seen in. They have drinks and snacks in the lobby for the guests and anything you ask for they are right there willing to give you. I was blown away by the quality of care here and the compassion ALL of the staff have for animals. We drove all the way up from Sierra Vista (87 miles) because there are NO animal ER’s here which I find absolutely ridiculous (VEG please come here!) So from here on out VEG is the only place my boy is going from here on out for ER. I forgot to mention they saw him on a Sunday of Memorial day weekend and there wasn’t even a hiccup. If you have an animal and need emergency care dont waste your time going anywhere else this place is top notch and the prices were VERY fair. You can look at the other reviews and see many people with similar experiences. They went above and beyond in every way and we cant thank Dr.Key and the staff of VEG oro valley enough. Since that visit our boy has drastically improved and is on the mend. We are so grateful!! You guys are all amazing and deserve 5 paws!!!

Myself and my husband recently had heart breaking situation requiring us to rush our senior dog, Millie, to an emergency vet. We chose Veterinary Emergency Group based on their reviews and I’m so glad this is where we decided to put our trust into for helping our dog. While we were there, we found out that Millie was unfortunately experiencing aspirating pneumonia. Despite the awful situation we were in, from the moment we walked in, the compassion and care shown by the entire team were truly remarkable. Millie arrived lethargic and disoriented, but after about 18 hours of treatment, she was finally starting to move around and show improvement. Witnessing her start to walk (and even with some pep in her step) after she couldn’t even lift her head just a few hours before brought immense joy, not just to me but to the entire staff who cheered her on with such enthusiasm. It warmed my heart to see how much they genuinely cared about Millie's recovery. A special thank you goes to vet techs Jamie and Madison, who were incredibly loving, patient, and kind to both Millie and our family. They truly are superheroes. I also want to extend my deepest gratitude to the stellar vets who oversaw Millie's care: Dr. Carotenuto, Dr. Snyder, and Dr. Drizin. Dr. Carotenuto's immediate and thorough assessment of Millie was a tremendous relief. One of the best parts of our experience was being able to stay with Millie the whole time. She wasn't placed in a cold kennel in the back of a clinic, secluded and alone. Instead, we stayed together in a private room with a couch, snacks, drinks, and other amenities that made us feel comfortable and cared for. The welcome basket they provided, complete with a toothbrush, toothpaste, makeup remover, and snacks, was a thoughtful touch, especially since we arrived in the middle of the night and were there for several hours. The Veterinary Emergency Group went above and beyond in their care for Millie, and I felt their genuine excitement and dedication to seeing her improve. I am incredibly grateful for their amazing care and compassion during such a stressful time. Thank you for making a difficult situation more bearable and for your unwavering support and love for Millie.

The entire team is exemplary! From the techs, to the nurses and Dr.s, everyone was professional, compassionate and caring. My cat stayed overnite there and I was made to feel welcome and encouraged to be with her for as long as I wanted. I love that I was able to stay with her and was included in diagnostics as well as the treatment plan. This is the first time visiting the clinic, but if the need arises, this will be the only emergency I would consider taking my pets. A big thank you to the entire staff! Having a sick pet is such a stressful occasion. You all made me feel cared for and valued. I am so appreciative of you all.

So fortunate this place opened up near my house and that my dogs illness was assessed quickly and treated with proper medication late on a Saturday night. The staff were very knowledgeable, caring and organized to juggle all the walk-ins and urgent calls. Totally loved not being locked away in a room and forgotten or sent home because it wasn't life threatening. Peace of mind and a good night's sleep was worth not waiting until regular office hours on Monday because Friday night we both didn't get any sleep!
