How to Save Money at Ina Road Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I've tried a few others' vets in the past couple of years, and no one has a staff members as competent and compassionate at IRAH. Highly recommend! I know my pets are in the best hands when being cared for by the staff. My dog is people weary, especially in small areas, and they work with her each visit to make it a positive experience for her.

My Golden was not feeling well. Lethargic, suppressed appetite and overall not her puppy self. They got her in the same day and both the staff and Dr. Devi were so professional and provided great care. I highly recommend Ina Road for all your doggies annual care along with urgent care needs!

Our dog blue had been seen a few times in a short period due to developing a respiratory infection. The clinic was running a little short on staff, do it to some time away from the clinic by the other vet, and they were very transparent about the fact that the wait times for appointments would be longer. When I contacted them, worried that my dog was taking a turn for the worse, they made sure he could be seen that day. They allowed me to drop him off so they could work, and then throughout the day, he received excellent care, as always, and I felt so much better knowing he was in a safe place receiving excellent care there’s nowhere else I wouldn’t want to bring my pets, I’m always confident they will be well cared for. Thank you so much Dr. Devy and team!!

I feel so lucky to be a client of Ina Road! They’re truly compassionate and treat my pets with the utmost care. My dog Kai has severe allergies and I went to multiple vets who just shrugged their shoulders and basically told me good luck. Ina road actually offers a Nextmune testing and treatment plan which was SUPER helpful. Just in food allergies my dog has 14 different common dog food allergies so it was impossible to go about process of elimination. The Nextmune kit actually tells you what allergies your dog has. He was even allergic to prescription allergy dog food 😂😂. Between Nextmune and quarterly cytopoint shots my dog who was a rescue was able to grow his beautiful coat in and no longer suffer. Without their help I would’ve never gotten this poor pup’s allergies under control. He’s so happy and healthy now and they have also been great when dealing with all my emergency visits too (like when my dog ate my entire takeout order of fajitas from Guadalajara 😂). I also have two cats and they’ve been great to my cats as well. Just as a cherry on top, I love how much they love Kai and are happy to see him. He loves going to the vet haha. It’s really nice to see how each one of the staff really does care for the animals. I posted picture so you could see the dramatic before and after from when I first rescued him and he came to me with patches of hair missing from his allergies to his soft full coat he developed thanks to Ina Road!

My 15 yr old lab/shepard mix(Cali) seemed to have caught a stomach virus and Ina Road Animal Hospital was able to get her in on the weekend. Tiffany and Dr. Reed were amazing in their care and treatment of my fur baby. Unfortunately, I did have to bring Cali back in as she was getting worse and had stopped eating for the most part. I could tell she was in a lot of pain and with a heavy heart I had to make the difficult decision of putting her down. The staff was very sympathetic and helped to make Cali as comfortable as possible. Tiffany was with other patients at the time but she was very kind and took a moment to pop in and give her condolences as she and some of the other staff had fallen in love with Cali at her previous visit. I chose to cremate her and they let me pick out an urn which I was honestly surprised at that to be honest. I was anticipating the regular white plastic urn box that most places give you and usually those places try to upsell you at one of the worst moments of your life. I was grateful that is was included so I didn't have to feel like a horrible dog mom by not getting something better. I also did her paw print. The service that they use to do all this is very impressive in just how much care and respect they showed to my dog and just what they gave you. I went with the picture frame urn box and a paw print which they presented very nicely. The Ina Road Animal Hospital even sent me a card signed by the employees which was a very sweet and kind gesture on their part. I would highly recommend Ina Road Animal Hospital and Dr. Reed to my friends ans family or just anyone looking for a place that is going to take the best care of your pet. Thank you to all the staff there- you are amazing in everything you do!
