How to Save Money at United Pet Care, LLC
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR PET INSURANCE, FIND SOMETHING ELSE. My family and I have been members with United Pet Care for quite a long time, first with my old dog who passed away at 19 and now with my current pets at 7, 7, & 8. That said, UPC has turned into one of the least helpful services I've ever used. I have to constantly contact them for updated insurance cards. The first time I had to do so was in 2021 when they responded they only do digital copies because they were having "issues with the postal service", but offered a printed one if I insisted on it. Never arrived. I had to send two more emails before I finally received it weeks later. Fast forward to 2023. Nothing. Neither a new physical membership card nor a digital one. The customer service is selective with their responses. Still no digital copy of the insurance card. I'll be actively looking for a new service after this latest episode.

I don't understand how it took me this long to find out about this one. I was paying so much because of the type of dogs, but still didn't see any savings with my old pretty insurance. Plus the reimbursement checks will be 4-5 months after the fact. UPC is highly recommended in my book. I already have my daughter and mom change to them.

Not sure why there’s so many negative reviews about customer service, I’ve never had any problems. It’s a great deal for a low monthly price. I have two pets signed up with UPC and while the coverage might not be as comprehensive as other insurances, it’s also not as expensive. I’ve saved a lot of money using it.

I don’t understand the good reviews. For clarity, when I said “so your company can’t do anything for me, even though I’ve been paying all year?” the response I received was “that’s right.” -nice customer service. Please just purchase real insurance for your pet. This company will happily accept your money, but they won’t cover anything for you. I’m disappointed with my employer for offering this as a “benefit” and will be canceling my account. I feel deceived.

Well, I paid for United Pet Care for 8 years through work and never needed to utilize it until my dog passed a couple weeks ago. I had to take my dog to a 24/7 clinic(Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic) on a Sunday night at 10:30pm, so, couldn’t goto my normal vet. Needless to say, after 2 and a half days at that vet clinic, I had to decide to put my dog of 11 and a half years down. Obviously, the last thing on my mind is what United Pet Care would cover, but I can answer it now. Literally $0 of the $3,500 is what they covered. I called them a week after when I could mentally talk about the situation and the only thing they offered is to cancel my account. So, that was pointless money I spent each month through work when I couldn’t use it in the ONLY time I needed it. I’m very disappointed with this “Pet Insurance” that I paid them for 8 years just to do nothing when I needed it.
