How to Save Money at Animal Medical Center of Surprise
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I can not tell you how happy I was to find this practice. When one of my elderly dogs was declining and having some serious symptoms I called the Veterinary office we had been using for the last two years (in Sun City West) and asked for an urgent appointment I was told they could not get us in for 6 days. I knew we shouldn’t wait so I started on line research. When I needed help the most this team came to the rescue. They got us in the next morning. Everyone was kind and professional. I was so right to not wait. I ended up saving my old friend some suffering. They helped my pup over the rainbow bridge in such a caring way. They will now be our Vets moving forward♥️

Our fur baby needed to get checked out and AMC was referred to us by pet smart. We used their online form and they called right away and were able to accommodate us. They got us in the minute we walked in and thoroughly checked him out thankfully ensuring that everything was basically fine. They were able to update his vaccinations that were due, and even give him a nail trim and minor clean up. The staff from the gals up front to the pet nurse and vet- all extremely friendly, professional and definitely animal lovers. The facility was very clean and easy to find. The system and processes they have in place are phenomenal. I love their online technology and their app as well. They even offer military discounts! I would definitely recommend AMC!

This place was really helpful. We took our puppy kaido there to get checked up and the staff was very friendly and caring. The price for the visit wasn't too bad either. The only thing I had a complaint about was the wait time. We were in there for like 3-4 hours. But they seemed really busy and they let us know every hour where we stood on the list, so that was very considerate. But all in all, I will definitely come back here if I have another emergency. Thank you again kaido is very happy to be back home!

We took our beloved Maija in because she was not eating for 4 days. The Dr and nurse were so compassionate as we had to put her to sleep due to so many things going on. We had a great 14 yrs with Maija, and she is dearly missed. ❤️ I recommend the Animal Medical Center to anyone who needs a vet for your furry baby. Thank you

I'm not sure where to start. AMC has become family. My little Chihuahua Ruru went here until he passed. He needed teeth extracted, had surgery for blocked salivary glands, and had ongoing treatment for his blood pressure and heart. The front staff was always welcoming, the techs delecate care eased my anxiety when having to take Ruru to the back for care, and the Doctors even talked baby talk to Ruru which helped comfort him. I have to name Ashley personally! Ashley cared for Ruru and really understood the inseparable bond I have with Ruru and Ruru to me. Sadly, Ruru passed last month on June 13th at only 9 years old. His poor heart just couldn't pump any further. When I brought his lifeless body in, Ashley allowed me the time with him to say goodbye and kiss n hug him wrapped in his blankie and I sang him his favorite song. Unfortunately, "Please don't take my sunshine away" became reality. Long story short, if you are looking for a place that puts a smile on your face when you walk in the door, a place that treats your babies like their own, has extensive knowledge of pets and their unique health situations, has the best and easiest pet portal to navigate, kisses your pets, and, and, and... Please, don't walk, -run here!! You will only ask one question... Why did it take me so long to find this place?!! AMC, Thank you from the bottom of my pinky toes❤️❤️😭. I love all of you. I may not have mentioned you by name, but have only had positive interactions with EVERYONE! Now, my new babies, TootsiePop and MooMoo are being cared for here, too! This place is outstanding🐕!
