How to Save Money at Star Valley Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Fantastic place, a couple months ago I had to have my 16 year old cat euthanized here due to complications from her age and they not only got us in with no advanced notice(while EVERY other vet in town was booked for 2 weeks), they were incredibly caring and accommodating throughout the our time there. Since then I've brought my other pets in for vaccinations and exams/treatments and they've always been great to us and our pets. One of the best parts for someone like myself who is often struggling financially is their price is always a a pleasant surprise, especially considering the quality of service we receive every time. So just know, you won't have to hold your breath during that cringe inducing moment waiting to hear the price for your visit, no massive markups or ridiculous fees, not to mention they are very willing to work with those who do need help. For those individuals who frequent Main Animal Hospital in Payson I strongly advise checking this place out. They aren't constantly closed or without a doctor for random lengths of time or booked up for weeks at a time. In addition they don't charge you as if they were an emergency animal hospital just because they have "hospital" in their name. And as a past customer of Main AH the quality of care here is just as good and in my opinion better in multiple ways. To summarize, you'll receive friendly, professional, quality service and you won't go bankrupt either!

Okay so I rarely write reviews but I wanted to write this in case anyone finds themselves in my shoes. I have a heeler, a very energetic/anxious working dog. I was incredibly nervous to bring her in, but she had a foxtail stuck in her ear and I had to. We get in and they let us wait in a quiet exam room. When the techs came in, they weren’t afraid (or didn’t seem afraid) of her being grumbly. They sat with us and talked and moved as quietly as they could, keeping my girl comfortable. They were very transparent and clear on the process, paperwork, and charges. They quickly sedated her and got the foxtail out and then brought her back to me. I see a lot of people mention the downside is their pricing, which they’re not particularly cheap. But honestly, it’s worth every penny to have genuine, kind people care for your pet. Just based on how they treated my baby girl, I would recommend Star Valley Vet to anyone I know. Absolutely lovely people here. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care of my pup!

I’ve been taking my three dogs to Star Valley Vet for almost a year now, and I’m very happy with them. I’ve gotten answers to all of my questions each time I’ve asked them, and they’ve always been very sweet to my dogs. My Doberman had a particularly bad mystery wound so we had to drive down to an ER in Mesa, and the follow up visit to Star Valley provided much more helpful information. They know the area and deal with the local flora and fauna (like javelina) more often than vets in the valley. And that’s extremely valuable to me. Yes, they are busy and sometimes it’s hard to get an appointment quickly, but in my experience, that’s every veterinary clinic. And there aren’t many options up here, soooooo… Emergency rooms exist for a reason, other reviewers! Great staff and a clean facility. Nothing but nice things to say from me! Thanks for taking such good care of our kids!

They always take their time and never rush. Dr Hallman and Dr Card always spend a lot of time explaining everything to us and answering all of our questions. The entire staff is exceptional. We know the health and well being of our pets is their priority.
