How to Save Money at Bell Rock Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I switched to this clinic very recently for our 11 year old female 16 lb dog. I made the switch because the former local vet clinic whom I'd used for three years, became impersonal and recklessly, exorbitantly expensive. I'm not naming names. Thus far I'm very pleased. Dr. Jarvis and the staff have been cooperative, professional, compassionate and reasonable. Dr. Jarvis spent plenty of time for Dottie's first annual well dog visit, patiently and lovingly examining her and getting to know her. She answered all of my questions openly and thoroughly. She took her time. I was impressed. She struck me as knowledgeable, honest and caring. Time will tell of course how they do in the future or in the event of some serious injury or illness, but so far so good.

From the first call, to our check out, the staff were friendly and helpful. Dr. Jarvis is exactly the doc I want for our 4 legged son, Boris. Not only was she amazing, but she got down on the floor and actually played with him. Loved her immediately! This is the office you want to take your pets to. If I were able to leave 10 stars ⭐️ I would! So happy to have found Bell Rock Veterinary, look forward to our next visit.

We were in Sedona recently with our 6 year old Vizsla who wasn't feeling well with lethargy and stomach issues. Fortunately, we were seen the same day we hoped for an appointment. The care, diligence, professionalism and personal touch were excellent. I can honestly say that if we lived in the community permanently, this would be the place we take our pets. Thanks

HUGE THANK YOU to Dr Jarvis and her wonderful staff at Bell Rock Veterinary in Sedona!!!! Last week I took my dog Pirate to her (from Chandler). Dr J asked several questions then warned me she’d be making Pirate cough as she felt Pirate’s neck. Within just a few minutes Dr J gave answers that two local vets and several visits over the last year hadn’t provided. After a week of meds my girl is doing much better, and we have a plan/path forward to give my senior girl the best life possible in her remaining years. Dr J has my undying gratitude!

A few weeks ago my beloved, 20 year old dog, Zuessy-bear took a sudden turn for the worse around 6pm. Doc Jarvis had left already for the day so I had to keep him comfortable on my own through the night. It was so horrible, he plummeted downhill so fast that by 4am I was dilerious and emotionally damaged beyond words. I called Dr Jarvis and left a message on her voice-mail at 4am, crying and saying that I'd be waiting in the parking lot with him by 7 am. She got my voice-mail from home and arrived early to find me in the parking lot with my dying dog. She swiftly brought him to the rainbow Bridge and out of pain the second she unlocked the door and let us in. She said she had gotten my message so arrived early just for us. It was one of the most traumatic and horrible experiences of my life but Dr. Jarvis was there to save my sweet Zuess from one more second of suffering. There is no better doctor in this area. You will never regret maybe paying a few pennies more for her incredible love, expertise and accommodation. She is the kindest, best, most loving vet I have ever encountered. If you love your baby, well, so does she! You won't find better anywhere ever!
