How to Save Money at North Scottsdale Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I am never one to write reviews but this is the first vet i actually have really had an amazing experience with. The team here is so nice and caring. The previous vet i took her too was very judgmental. When i told the receptionist at the old vet on the phone the breed of my dog (mini bernedoodle) she said in the most judgemental sounding voice “oh.. interesting.” I get it because she is a doodle breed and not everyone “agrees” with them yada yada but that is no way to talk to people. Not here though! The receptionist on the phone was so nice and helpful with getting us booked! Completely different experience!! love that they didn’t force certain optional vaccines on us and instead gave them as a recommendation but not in a forceful way. Previous vets i’ve gone to gave it as “no option” and would pressure me into something i didn’t want to vaccinate for etc. They also did not shame the way i feed my dog or try to make me switch her food etc. Every other vet has made me try to switch my dogs food with their prescription diets even when my pups were thriving and still currently thriving with how i feed. The doctor and vet tech (wish i remembered their names) i saw were both so kind and gentle with my puppy. I absolutely love that they gave her vaccine in the room with me rather than taking her to the back. Everything was done in the room with me, and super positively reinforced. They distracted her with peanut butter while doing exam/vaccine. She didn’t even notice she got her shot. I will be switching all 3 of my pups to this vet and will recommend this place to anyone who asks. Thank you for such an awesome experience!!

I was able to get a new patient appointment quickly and the staff was very friendly. The doctor was realistic with me about my dog’s treatment and wasn’t just trying to get money out of me which i appreciate. Very thorough exam and i feel confident with the care we were given. Excited to continue care here!

Brought cat in for emergency. Turns out she had cancer :( North Valley provided prescriptions to keep her comfortable. Said to use their recommended pharmacy so we could get the meds faster. Paid their pharmacy for overnight delivery. 4 days later I call pharmacy asking where meds are and they tell me these meds take 2 weeks to ship. Called around and a vet was able to take cat for an appointment and deliver meds right there. North Scottsdale Animal Hospitals advice delayed comfort care for my dying cat of 20 years. Which either makes them incompetent or cruel.

From the moment I picked up the phone to make a new patient appointment with Dr. Josh, I knew we were going to be happy! And sure enough, Dr. Josh & his team are wonderful. They give you the time your pet needs, did NOT try to sell me anything my Charlie didn't need. Actually, it was so refreshing to hear from a vet that "our best treatment right now, is no treatment" - let Charlie recover and not pump him full of stuff. SO fantastic! Thank you, Thank you for being awesome! Christina and Charlie
