How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
All of the staff from the front desk to the doctors are absolutely amazing. Their attention to detail and ensuring the correct services are provided are excellent. My poor baby went in feeling very sick and they spend the entire day making sure he was feeling better. They thoroughly explained all the procedures he would go through and his final diagnosis in the end. Even calling back several times in the following days with more questions, they still kept the same level of attentiveness and care. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. Thank you staff at BluePearl for making this a great experience on my behalf and of course Grimmy thanks you too.

I have been taking my two 13 year old Yorkies to Dr. Ford for 3 years and can’t imagine not knowing her. She saved my dogs’ lives because she was able to diagnose their internal issues and treat them to keep them alive and healthy when I thought I might lose them. We go to Blue Pearl on a regular basis for checkups and when needed for issues. They are very good about confirming appointments by phone prior to the appointment date, communicating by email, phone and follow up. They are very personal and greet my dogs by their first name and show them lots of attention and love when we arrive. Dr. Ford is extremely professional, knowledgeable, genuinely caring and thoughtful. I know she cares about my dogs and me and we’re not just an appointment. We are clients and family. I am grateful for Dr. Ford and everyone at Blue Pearl who we’ve gotten to know over the years and appreciate all of their help and love.

First and foremost, thank you for taking care of my fur baby. After having to receive an emergency splenectomy my baby needed to be monitored for 24 hours and more than likely was going to need a blood transfusion. My baby is my world and thanks to Blue Pearl Scottsdale and their FANTASTIC team, she is now home resting and healing. Thank you for taking such good care of her.

I can't praise Dr. Sara Ford at Blue Pearl Scottsdale highly enough for her expertise, care, and compassion in treating two of our cats. One of our cats has been in long term care with Dr. Ford for issues made worse from terrible treatment at another local vet's office. Dr. Ford saved her life and has been such an incredible partner in our cat's care over the past year. Our interactions with the staff at Blue Pearl have been wonderful; they have all been very caring and loving toward our girls. Yes, the prices can be eye watering, but I blame that on corporate veterinary medicine, not the caring doctors and staff. I'm very grateful for the peace of mind that Blue Pearl is there for us 24/7 if needed.

Dr Ford at BluePearl Scottsdale is perhaps the most impressive and competent vet we’ve encountered in the last 40-50 years ( possible exception being Dr Kedrowski who specializes in exotics which is a whole ‘nother animal). Good news or bad news is always delivered with care and all the pertinent info you can eat. We love her. More importantly, Stella loves her. Staff is almost uniformly great.
