How to Save Money at Aztec Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Took my pet in cause he wasn’t feeling good, I felt like the New Veterinarian Dr was great at communicating what could be wrong with our pup and cat. Decided to charge the CareCredit, not sure if the young woman chose the 12 months no Interest. I hope she did. Be prepared to pay close to 80.00 for the initial exam. Besides my review, This place is clean and I would return. This clinic is taking new patients but don’t mark my words.

Caring, Efficient & Personal Our dog had been cared for by Dr. Zetye at Banfield Petsmart in Old Town Scottsdale since he was born. Dr. Zetye always had a personal touch, as it was evident he truly cared about the well-being of our dog. He helped us navigate the challenges of administering insulin shots, once our dog developed Type I diabetes at 11-years-old. There was never any question too trivial for him to take the time to address. I genuinely credit Dr. Zetye for our dog's success in living healthfully with diabetes. So we felt devastated when he left Banfield for Aztec Hospital, but it didn't take long for us to realize that the only thing valuable about Kunu's care at Banfield was Dr. Zetye. Just last month, we officially moved our dog over to Dr. Zetye's care and we could not be happier with the entire experience at Aztec Hospital. It is such a calm, peaceful place, which is most helpful for our naturally anxious dog who hated going to Petsmart. There are even windows with natural light within all of the patient rooms, which I believe allows our dog to calm down and feel less anxious. The front desk actually picks up your phone calls promptly, unlike Petsmart, and Dr. Zetye is VERY responsive via email when problems arise with our pet. Just recently, we worked with Renee to help us learn how to conduct our own glucose curve at home with our dog. She was so personable, helpful, and truly made us feel more competent in helping us maintain our dog's glucose levels. If you are at Banfield in Old Town presently, RUN do not contemplate or hesitate to change veterinarians. This has truly been a night and day experience for us. Seeing our dog smile after every visit only reaffirms our decision to choose this practice. Thank you Dr. Zetye and the entire team at Aztec Hospital- you are the best!!!

I was here with my three year old dog just about a year ago. After some time, I am still so disappointed in this service. My dog had not been feeling well, he had issues with keep food down, and among other stomach issues. I am a college student, which they knew, and decided to still take advantage of me. They hit me with my bill after telling me my dog might not make it. No testing had been done, but I was told my dog "most likely" had parvo and was going to die. I insisted that he had all of his shots, and had not been around other animals. He was never tested at this vet, despite saying that the bill would cover it. We had instead been sent home with de-worming medication (which didn't work) as well as a "possible" parvo diagnosis. After charging me $800 that provided absolutely no care for my dog, I went to another vet who actually helped. We found that he was having an allergic reaction. If you want honest service from people who actually care about animals, this is NOT the place for you.

I recently brought my 8 year old pomeranian in for a dental cleaning. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and compassionate. it's always stressful dropping your dog off at the vet. My whole family has been coming here for years. Winston was very well taken care of and I was also able to update his vaccines and trim his nails for an affordable price! would definitely recommend!
