How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Group
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I’ll try to keep this as short as possible. This place is unlike any other. I’ve been a foster for animals for 15 years. I’ve been to a lot of vet clinics. Never have I experienced so much genuine care and love for animals but also their humans. My family has been going through some very heavy personal life challenges and our dog was injured and required a procedure. When I tell you they went above and beyond to make sure our dog was ok as well as me would be an understatement. These are true caring loving people. They treated our animal with so much compassion. And gave a lot of extra grace to someone who really needed it. From the bottom of my heart ❤️ thank you VEG. You are actually changing the world with your kindness.

I have to rave about Veterinary Emergency Group (at 2196 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix 85016). Finding an emergency vet for a Bearded Dragon at 7 pm on a Thursday night is not easy. They saved our lizard by their expert care and made the experience as good as could be expected for both my daughter and I, and our lizard. They formulated and discussed a treatment plan and helped to make it more affordable by providing treatment in a step by step manner to avoid unnecessary expenses. We were there until 5 am and were provided a darkened room, with a small pull out couch, blankets and pillows so we could get some rest while a surgical procedure was accomplished. You are welcomed to be near your animal in the open and clean treatment area as well. When I mentioned how difficult it can be to find an emergency exotic pet vet, they explained that their policy is to treat any animal that fits in their door (except primates) so they can help with unusual pet emergencies. It was a bit of a drive, but I wanted to share this veterinary resource.

By far the best emergency vet experience I’ve ever had. The ability to be alongside your pet through the whole process and be included in every aspect of their treatment is pretty amazing. I’ve lived all over the US and unfortunately experienced multiple ER vets and to have this place around puts my mind at ease. My little guy had a reaction to two vaccines and his regular vet couldn’t accommodate him. VEG got him better in no time. He was way less anxious here than at our regular vet, likely due to him being able to be right next to me the entire time. I value the transparency and compassion of all the staff I interacted with. Thanks, VEG!

My 2 dogs were attacked by 5 strays. My senior was attacked by 4 of the strays at once, while my other dog was fighting one. They almost killed my older dog. Went to the closest ER vet to me which was the Veterinary Emergency Group. I cannot say enough good things about the vet & staff here. They took the upmost care of my senior dog. Quoted me a price to put him under & treat all of his puncture wounds. They said he was so good they didn't need to put him under so they refunded my money for sedation. Never have had that happen before. They were very compassionate and caring to me despite me being a total disaster upset when I arrived. Everyone from the front desk girl, the vet techs and the veterinarian. Both my dogs are now totally healed and I thank the Veterinary Emergency Group for all that they did to help us. I was so impressed with that group. I hope I don't have another emergency, but if I do I will definately be going there. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

You never want your pet to have an emergency but this is the place to go if there is one. The staff is so welcoming and friendly. They take the time to explain everything along the way and answer all of your questions. Our dog was hospitalized and it was easy to call and get a hold of the vet for updates. It was nice that we could also visit our dog anytime we wanted and stay as long as we wanted. Facilities were clean. Obviously pricey for emergency services but we had some peace of mind knowing our dog was in great hands. Highly recommend this place.
