How to Save Money at AVECCC Buckeye
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Great experience. Love the vets and staff. Clean, calm facility. Will definitely recommend to all our friends and family. You’ve spoiled us. I like it better than our regular vet. Our dog is soo grateful as well.

Luke was the absolute joy of our lives for 10 weeks. He dealt with chronic health issues and we had to make the awful decision at only 4 months old to end his suffering. We had been to AVECCC numerous times (including Peoria location) and it's not cheap but they are the most compassionate place. When we decided to let Luke go and rest they gave us time and space. I was at peace with the decision. My husband did not want to let him go and try these two surgeries but we had the time to talk and consider Luke's quality of life. The next morning, after Luke's passing, my husband thanked me for being strong enough to let him go. Rest easy baby boy. Thank you AVECCC for your kindness, intelligence and support help with Luke. They even gave him pain medicine and let me hold him for hours before the end. He was my first dog and I learned a love I never knew possible. I will never forget the experience and thank you for making our goodbye a little more bearable. Extra thank you to Nicole for her time and help. You are amazing. We love and miss you Luke. My only regret is that we didn't have more time. Isn't that the best love? Thank you little Luke for teaching me to wholeheartedly live and love again. You eased my depression and I will definitely always remember you with a smile. No more sadness, suffering or pain little guy. I hope you are running around and being rabid. 😂 (Inside joke Mom and Dad had). Be crazy happy and healthy baby Lukie!

Fast, friendly, and genuine services filled with love and passion. I walked in on a Sunday morning with a hound who was having a severe reaction to a bug bite/sting. Within 90 minutes, his symptoms were treated and we were heading home. I highly recommend AVECCC Buckeye to all accountable and responsible pet owners!

This place and their people are awesome. I don’t usually write reviews so for me to take the time to look them up and do this means they left that big of an impression on me and my pup. Our 5 mon dachshund puppy was not doing well, we didn’t know what she may have consumed. They brought her back before I even finished paperwork, they were so sweet to her and when it came to the results I didn’t feel guilted into doing extra precautions. Have had multiple vets push their recommendations/upselling to the point where I felt guilted into doing even though it may not of been necessary. AVECC were honest, patient and very helpful when it came to making decision. They avoided any further traumatic testing. Honestly expected to spend way more since it’s an emergency care. So overall I’d recommend anyone who’s in a frantic situation like us to take their animal there. Wish they could be our primary care.

Staff has been so awesome both times we’ve had to bring our dogs here. The doctors and techs are great. We appreciate their hard work and the care they have for their patients.
