How to Save Money at Copper Mountain Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I love this place. I started coming to CMAH early last year. I fell in love at the first visit. Dr. Ashley Kerns is the best bet I've ever met. The staff got down on the ground and tried to make my old girl Lucy feel comfortable when they came in to talk about the results of the appointment. They gave us courses of treatment. When we denied treatment due to her old age there was no judgment. There was instead a shoulder to lean on & understanding. Sadly later on I had to put Lucy down and this place made me feel at home. While preparing all the supplies we were able to give Lucy chocolate and ice cream (provided by CMAH). I was able to hold my Lucy when she was put down. Dr. Ashley Kerns personally did the injection on my time. She was compassionate and kind towards me while I looked like a hot mess. I had to put down my older dog in 2019 at another facility and I was happily surprised with how CMAH handled the process. I now have two cats and have moved an hour away. I am making their appointments tomorrow to be seen for the first time at CMAH. I don't care how far the drive is or if I have to take a 1/2 day at work. Finding a good doctor is hard and I'm glad my animals at least have one.

I recently had to help my dog Sadie battle cancer, and unfortunately she didn't make it. Dr. Sarah and the rest of the staff helped me every step of the way, and worked with me to ensure we were both comfortable and well taken care of, all the way to the end. Absolutely outstanding people; your pet will be in good hands here.

They were so compassionate and great during the difficult time with our dog. They made a difficult time a little bit easier. I’ll be using them in the future with any other pets we have.

Copper Mountain VS Banfield pet Hospital: (my experience) I’ve always taken my cat to Banfield pet hospital in the past and was never really happy. It can be convenient and sometimes cheaper but you get what you pay for. My Cat recently got her vaccines updated from Banfield and it was the last straw for me. I was treated poorly by the vet and the environment left so much to be desired. Dirty and smelly and the vet didn’t want to get to know Harley’s history or ask questions and get updates. It all came from communicating with the vet tech. Which I know is custom but I’ve always at least had time with the vet to discuss anything relevant. They never called me to check on my fur baby after her appt even with an urgent voicemail from me same day. My cat got her annual vaccine and then a couple others that she hasn’t had in awhile that were due. She’s older now almost 11 and she had a horrible reaction even with a previous history of only minor reactions. I was so scared! I stayed up the whole night and called Banfield but they never returned my call. Even though she was under their care. After a massive Google hunt for the best vets in Chandler I happened across Copper Mountain. This was after contacting several vets. CM were the only one that reached out to me quickly the next day. They treated me and my precious kitty so well! From walking into the calm and large waiting area. To being greeted with a smile and compassion, to fast and efficient paper work, a thorough consult with vet tech and a fast checkout at the end. It was a seamless painless experience to an otherwise extremely stressful event for my cat and me. They had even pulled up her records from Banfield the same day I made the appt!! That doesn’t even happen when I go to the human doctor. The vet Tech and the actual doctor (Dr. Sarah) were so incredibly amazing with my cat! I could tell they both cared so much even though she was so cranky and feeling HORRIBLE. It was still awesome to see the patience and love from these sweet people. They were experienced and knowledgeable and I felt like I could really take my time and ask questions. They asked a lot of their own questions and made sure to have the whole story and facts straight before deciding on a treatment. I didn’t feel like I was up sold on any unnecessary treatments or medicines. I left with a smile and a promise to myself to never compromise the quality of care for my animals ever again! Also the space was so clean and smelled fresh. You can tell they take pride in having a fresh and serene space for both animals and their owners. I appreciated it so much, Thank you Copper Mountain!!!
