How to Save Money at Animal Medical Center at Pinnacle Hills
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The entire staff at AMC Pinnacle Hills is absolutely amazing. They have gone above and beyond with two litters for us. They truly do put your animals best interest first and are very fair in pricing. They are compassionate individuals that don’t make you feel like just a price tag. We lost one puppy and they did everything in their power to try to save her. They also gave us the time and respect to say our goodbyes. My family is beyond thankful for these beautiful souls. We will only bring our animals here!

Really wonderful staff - we switched to AMC after a very negative experience at another local vet and we're very glad we did. Dr. Fugett, Mike, the other technicians and office staff are so welcoming and caring, and they have done an amazing job looking after Boone. Would highly recommend them to anyone in need of veterinarian care for their pets.

We have been customers of AMC Pinnacle for a few years now. In this short time, 2 of our 3 indoor cats received treatment here, both resulting in late night races to a 24 hour pet emergency room. One had been sedated in order to get a simple blood draw as part of a checkup - he never came out of the sedation and passed away the following morning at the ER due to heart failure. The second cat was spayed at this facility and contracted pneumonia, resulting a 3-day ER stay, just 3 days after her spay surgery. While we don't necessarily hold the doctors responsible, these are stats that don't sit well with us anymore. We are now in the process of changing vet facilities.

Our dog has been under their care for a year and the vets have been amazing. With that said, we inquired about prescribing a medication for vomiting/diarrhea and it would be 24-48 hours because it had to go to the internal pharmacy to be filled. I was told if I found it in stock at an external pharmacy then we wouldn’t have to wait 24-48 hours and it could be transferred. After finding the medication at another pharmacy, I was told it would be faxed immediately. Several hours went by with no fax to the external pharmacy so we reached out again. This time we were told it is 24-48 hours for any prescription to be REVIEWED (and filled) beyond things like heart worm and flea meds at the front desk. TLDR: told conflicting prescribing policies from three conversations with front desk staff that have reduced my overall trust in the staff.

Dr. O’Neal and Ashley were amazing when we brought my moms dog in. We were at the emergency vet for 4 hours and they handed us our dog back with a puppy’s head hanging out from her and told us to go elsewhere if we were unable to pay for the surgery. Dr. O’Neal and Ashley were able to work us in right away and even came up with a cost efficient way to have a c-Section and a spay at the same time. After giving our dog anesthesia, they were able to release the puppy without out surgery! We had our dog back within an hour of dropping her off. Ashley called to check up on them the next day. The whole staff has gone above and beyond for us!
