How to Save Money at After Hour Animal Hospital, A Thrive Pet Healthcare Partner

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our little pup was attacked by a big American Bully and when we arrived we were immediately taken care of. The staff is very caring and updated us often. They took great care of our pup and that is all we asked for but, they were all very caring to us as well. I added before and after pictures, Cooper is healing very nicely. We thank you so very much!!!

I definitely would recommend this animal hospital. They are actually open 24hrs. The staff was polite and patient. My dog was able to get to the back pretty quickly. Now I did have to wait a little bit before I actually talked to the doctor but the staff did inform me of situation which I appreciated. The Vet (Dr. B) was nice and seemed down to earth, explained things in an easy to understand manner. I had to leave my dog over night for a much needed infusion. They called me they next morning at the time they said with an update & to let me know he was ready for pick up. I will admit they do have a very expensive down payment which is required before your pet is even seen, which I understand just from working in the medical field with services being rendered and the provider could possibly not get paid for them. I did get a receipt informing me of what was done during his stay and the price & I actually got a little bit of a refund from the total price I paid. The staff called a few days later to check on him, which is always appreciated. I would definitely go back if I had to, but hopefully I will not have to.

I wish I could give 10 Stars!! Dr Ray and her staff are amazing. My cat had a prolapsed uterus and we rushed her in immediately for an emergency spay. Everyone was professional and kind. This was hands down the best ER experience we've ever had and I would recommend them to anyone needing their services.

We were originally hesitant to go here because of some of the reviews, but after experiencing the level of care the vets & techs gave us here, we had to write our own review for them. Our cat was transferred here for critical care a couple of times, until we eventually had to say goodbye to her. The staff were so caring, sweet & made one of the worst times in a pet owners life as peaceful as possible. They genuinely cared about our family and especially our fur baby & went above and beyond to make sure we knew it.

Had an incident with our 3yo cat who got into some food he can’t have (he loves to eat literally anything he can get his paws on). Thankfully I caught him in the act and took him to the animal hospital in NLR after calling animal poison control and getting some direction. The staff here helped us feel comfortable and at ease while they treated our kitty even as the outcome was uncertain. I know I asked so many questions, but they answered all of them with understanding. Yes, they are expensive, but I was not going to let Bruce suffer when I could help it. Thankful our little guy was just fine, but I definitely believe it was because we caught him in time, and the staff knew exactly how to treat him. Super thankful for this team and will definitely know to come here again should we need to in the future! Happy to say Bruce is still thriving🤎
