How to Save Money at Rehm Animal Clinic- Hillcrest
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
My fur baby Bentley goes to The Club at Rehm for daycare. We stop by to see Dr. Chris for checkups and annual shots. The front desk staff is fantastic and Dr. Chris always makes my little man feel loved. It also makes me feel comfortable and confident in the care and services they provide.

First visit was very good!!!! We enjoyed our visit and are certainly glad we’ve found another wonderful vet !!! It seems it is rather hard to find a good vet anymore, we move every couple of yrs or three and have to find vets when we move. I wish we would have started off with here with Dr. Rhem to begin with 🥰

Horrible attitudes just not welcoming. If my kitten had not just suffered a long drive after surgery to get there I would have took her elsewhere. I was directed by the team in SARALAND to drive my kitten whom just had a leg amputation to this location for recovery. I was told to use the emergency door. When I arrived I rung the bell and waited for someone to come open the door. Instead it was opened and shut. While attempting to stand on my leg to ring the bell again because I was holding my kitten in a box someone opened the door. Instead of asking “can I help you” I was told to go to the front because that door is for emergency use only. I reply that I was told to use this door when I arrived. …I ask for the woman to open the front door for me. *FYI that’s not true. I have used that door a few times in the past as well as seen other customers use that door. I’m standing at the front desk basically being ignored. I tell anyone who is listening that Doctor Barry sent me there and that he was on his way. The same woman asked for my last name and my pets name. She says she doesn’t know about that nor have anything on schedule. I’m getting extremely annoyed at this point because I standing there with a screaming kitten and NO ONE is asking what is wrong. Anyway she gets on the phone and speaks to whoever. Again I’m left standing that with my screaming kitten. So I asked her if she found out what is going on. She responds with they are figuring it out. I am holding everything in me to not lash out! Finally Doctor Barry arrives…I could not ask him what I needed to ask because I did not want to direct my anger at the wrong person. I’m just disgusted with this establishment!!

I have been using Rehm animal clinic on Hillcrest for 10 years. They are always very good with routine and sick care of my pets. When asked, they are happy to provide an estimate before providing care. I have found their vets to be compassionate and considerate.

Very nice people! Prices are a bit high but I understand given that they are open to emergencies on a Sunday. Our Buddy may have gotten an infection if he waited until our normal vet opened up. Buddy usually barks and growls around others but he loved being around the ladies that were working. I took one of my oldest dogs there once as well four years ago and they were amazing.
