How to Save Money at MedVet Mobile

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our old dog‘s health deteriorated very quickly this past weekend and we were so lucky to have Hayley, Dee and the wonderful doctors/techs there to help us. We knew that she would not come home, but their care and kindness made her last moments much less sad. We made an appointment that was very hard for them to honor since their office was packed with emergencies, but they got us into a room within 30 minutes of our appointment time. Everyone there cares tremendously and has a level of patience that I don’t even see at my regular vet’s office. They are constantly moving, answering phones, being kind to humans and animals who are in distress, but also take time with each individual even if they can only commit a couple minutes at a time. Just a great group of people to trust with your pet if you are in need of emergency care. Everything in this world is too expensive, but what they do is at least closer to being worth what they charge.

We were in a panic as we brought Henry in late Friday night. By the time we made it through the doors, he was more screaming than howling and continued to do so for a long time once we arrived. We had no idea what was wrong. He was anxious, running into walls, walking in circles and if you held him he screamed even though he wasn’t in pain. He was drooling, incontinent and panting. We were so scared. Dr. Wolfe and staff took time to patiently answer all of our questions and listen to our concerns. There was nothing but gracious understanding when I told them I would only be able to spend a certain amount. We were clearly and concisely made aware of our options. There was no sense of being pushed into a certain decision. In the end we were unable to figure out what happened, his labs were normal and his behavior didn’t perfectly check off any boxes other than being clearly neurological. But miraculously he made a full recovery. I called to ask for records of his labs to take to our vet on Monday (just for a follow up, he’s still doing great!) and was told they had already been sent. I am grateful for Dr. Wolfe and staff for caring for our very sweet, and on this night very loud and mysterious boy

When my 14 year old boxer mix suddenly lost all balance, eyes flicking back and forth, and general confusion on a Friday night, my son rushed her to medvet on Saturday morning (I could not get out of work to go with) and learned she was suffering from old dog vestibular - which was actually great news, as I was worried there was something permanent, or possibly fatal. Six days later she has made an almost full recovery and is getting back to her old self, even though we are still being very careful with being with her at all times, not letting her go outside alone in case she falls and cat gets back up. She has only had one fall in the last two days and she was able to get back up before I reached her to help. My son and Dil informed me of the caring and compassionate care received at medvet, and will 100 percent recommend to anyone who has a pet with an emergency situation when her regular veterinarians office is not open. I was also pleasantly surprised at the reasonable cost of the emergency visit, but glad I had already had a carecredit card as it happened just before payday! I simply cannot praise them enough. Pictures show her as a puppy from 2010, a beautiful, active young dog from 2015, and from now as a very old lady who hopefully has a couple of good years left!

Last night at 1030 we made a dash to MedVet with Lily. Unfortunately she passed away during the night with congestive heart failure. The staff and physicians at MEDVET were extremely caring, helpful in our time of need. Thank you for your highly professional attitude. Highly recommend MedVet.

Definitely an expensive visit but everyone was very nice. They had to deliver some really bad news to me but took their time, sat down with us, repeatedly asked if I had questions. Which was great because I think I was in shock. They even gave me a sample of a newer medicine they had gotten in. My cat is already doing so much better than she was a week ago when this happened. I’m very grateful I had the funds for everything, 500 dollars for all the bloodwork and checks they ran. I’ve had her since the day she was born nearly 19 years ago, I’m glad I got more time with her!
