How to Save Money at Center Star Veterinary Services
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Hands down, best Vet in our area! Sometimes there is a bit of a wait but it’s not due to poor service, I assure you. The entire staff is amazing and so loving to all the pets and everyone knows it. They stay busy because it’s the best place to take your furbaby around. This office is filled with the most kind, caring and amazing people and we wouldn’t take our babies anywhere else!! Surgeries, medical scares, routine checkups, medications; as a multitude pet parent, they help me with all of it and we couldn’t love them more 🙌🏻

I am a disabled veteran with a service dog and they have taken care of her in a very caring and economical manner. So when I had to put her down, they were there with compassion and painless process. But what them and Joe extra special, is he paid for me to have her ashes so that she can always be with me. I appreciate your care for her and all my future animals. I highly recommend them to anyone with a pet.

5 Stars is not enough for my experience at Center Star ! Brought my Henry there in an emergency situation. Being a walk in clinic when I pulled in there were numerous dogs ahead of us , waiting for 8:00 open . When I got to the reception desk, I explained he is real sick. Within minutes he was seen an diagnosed with a hernia. Surgery was needed. The process was started.. and without hesitation the Dr said I can do this here . After calling surgical offices in Decatur. Next day my boy was in surgery. All went as planned. Surgery was a success! He is home healing . The cost with medication was a blessing for me ! I would not have had a choice any where else . I would have had to have him put down. God blesses those who bless others Thank you Dr’s an staff for saving my Henry!!!

i have nothing but AMAZING experiences with Center Star. i was able to save a newborn kitten from being taken to a shelter when he was 1.5 weeks old. i brought him in and the vet was phenomenal. he educated me on what to do, how to do it, and encouraged me to call and ask questions if i needed guidance. a year later, my cat (cheesestick) is healthy and oh so spoiled. i came in yesterday because he was acting sick. they informed me that the flea medicine i used was lethal and very dangerous for any animal. DO. NOT. BUY. HARTZ. FLEA. MEDICINE. it’s at walmart. Center Star has been my primary vet for over a year and I have always trusted them and their staff. the prices are unmatched by any other office in the area, but the care does not reflect that! i’m a broke nursing student and never feel as if they overcharged or charged for unnecessary things. they go above and beyond during and after every visit to make sure i am well informed on the health of my pet. the professional staff is very educated on all types, sizes, and ages of pets. i always leave my appointments feeling confident that cheesestick got nothing less than amazing care. mr. cheesestick and i want to thank Center Star Vet for their phenomenal work and support!! i recommend this vet to every pet owner i know! if i could give y’all 100 stars i would. picture added from when i brought cheesestick in the first time at 1.5 weeks old to today when cheese got home from his sleepover at the vet!
