How to Save Money at Animal General Inc.
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

They were amazing at taking care of our newest love aka Daisy. When we got her she had a huge mass which turned out to be cancer and they removed it with no issues. She has been doing great. She’s even a house dog now! lol! Thank you Animal General!!

I took my piglet that I purchased to this vet due to being very lethargic, not eating or drinking. Well actually the morning visit was a phone call that he told me to come pick up a shot of penicillin without seeing her. About two hours later she was getting worse so I took her in because he needed to see one of my animals because he dispensed medication and I had never been there and because of the holidays they were going to be closed. Well he checked her out told the assistant to give her fluids which they couldn't give much as it wasn't working right. They gave me the bag of fluids so I could give more under her skin if needed. She passed about 45 minutes after I left his office. I hadn't had her very long so the breeder surprised me with another piglets ( born 11-23-24) on Christmas Eve. The breeder told me that he had already wormed her and that he had to feed her one feeding of whole milk because he ran out of the nurse all. I brought her home and she was eating well. Then on the next evening she developed diarrhea so I planned on taking her into the vet to make sure she was ok. He came to the exam room door with an assistant. They stood with the door open the entire time. He was very unprofessional and judgemental as to me having another baby with problems. I did not come to the vet for a lecture nor condescending attitude. The only time anyone actually walked in the door was after he told me she can't have worms but told the assistant to run a fecal. Then he walked away. I asked the assistant when she came back in and told me she didn't have worm how long will it take for her system to get into sync as he said. She rolled her eyes and went and stuck her head out the door and asked the doctor and he said a couple of days. For all of this judgemental morning I was charged $77.00 for the lecture. Thank but no thanks. I will never use this place again.

They let my dog come in last minute. But they didn't do anything for her. She wasn't eating, having diarrhea, labored breathing, and having difficulty standing. They ran no test. Took no X-ray. No temp tested. Gave anti inflammatory meds. All he did was look at her walk. Took her for 2nd opinion they ran test an X-ray. she has whip worm and like he guessed arthritis. Whip worms can kill her. He sent her home without a care of why she had diarrhea or couldn't breathe. Only addressed pain which wasn't my main concern.
