How to Save Money at Wild Rose Cat Clinic of Calgary
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google

True to other reviews about Wild Rose Cat Clinic. All 4 of our cats have been treated by them. I have never been to a Vet that shows more love, passion and knowledge. Everything is described both scientifically and in every day language to understand any issue no matter how big or small it may be. It’s a relaxed environment and our cats are not as stressed as they have been in other clinics. Dr. Liz continuously does research to be up to date on all things cat. The peace of mind knowing that our fur babies are taken such good care of by the clinic staff is second to none. Thank you all for your continued love and care.

I cannot thank Dr. Liz and her team (Kat, Jenn, and Cassandra) enough for the outstanding care and compassion they’ve shown to our two Himalayan cats, Dexter and Dio. Both of our cats needed dental cleanings and extractions, and we were incredibly nervous about the procedure and the risks of anesthesia. However, Dr. Liz and her team put us completely at ease with their professionalism, kindness, and extensive clinical knowledge. In our previous experiences with other clinics, no one was able to put us at ease about the procedure or thoroughly explain the risks and benefits like Dr. Liz and her team did. It was clear from the beginning that they had a wealth of experience working with cat dental issues. Dr. Liz took the time to carefully explain the extraction recommendations and the reasons behind them, which reassured us that we were making the best decisions for our cats’ health. Both Dexter and Dio have now had their dental procedures, and they’re doing great! The team’s incredible follow-up, attentive care, and obvious love for animals exceeded all our expectations. We’re so grateful to Dr. Liz, Kat, Jenn, and Cassandra for taking such great care of our furry boys. We wouldn’t trust anyone else!

Our elderly diabetic cat Cool, is now his most HEALTHIEST self after a long road of improper care and and misdiagnosis by other Veterinary clinics. We had lost hope that he would get better. We are beyond grateful for Dr. Liz and her “out of this world” expertise (shout-outs to Nurses Cassandra and Jennifer for their thorough support and instruction). My husband and I always leave feeling 100% confident in the advice and treatment plans. We are never overcharged and there is always time taken to cover every detail. Cool is so lucky to be a patient here. Thank you with a million Meows!

Dr. Liz took a call from me, late on Christmas Eve, as I was struggling and distraught at the emergency vet - having to come to terms with the fact that I'd have to put down my faithful friend of 18 years. She provided the reassurance that I needed in that moment, and if that isn't the best veterinarian-ing in the world, I don't know what is.

I cannot begin to thank this clinic enough. I constantly joke that I owe my sanity to them. I have 3 cats, one is a kitten, one is a 12 year old who is blind and deaf, and one is a 20 year old cuddly senior. I love my cats more than anything in the world and have always had issue fully trusting a vet. My former roommate/best friend introduced me to this clinic a few years ago and it has been life changing. The first time I met Dr.Liz, I told my friend that she could easily be the worlds next biggest magician from the magic she performed while caring for my boys. I could go on for hours about how amazing this clinic is from Dr Liz, to the Reception staff (shout out to Janet and Kat!) and everyone in between. Anytime a conversation comes up and I get to talk about my cats, I always mention how they have the best kitty doctor in the world so I know they are thriving. Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!
